As Predicted, Apple Store App Updated to Support Self-Checkout

 

We've been hearing about Apple's plans to implement some sort of a self-checkout system in its chain for over a week now. As a matter of fact, we've been expecting to see the feature added in an Apple Store app update since November 3rd.

Square Makes Mobile Payments With the iPhone Totally Hands-Free, Thanks to iOS 5

Mobile payment solution Square has issued a big update for its Card Case iPhone app that takes advantage of the location-awareness features in iOS 5. Users can enable the geofencing feature in iOS 5 to make hands-free payments when 100 meters or closer to a store that supports Square.

This new feature allows you to basically start a tab somewhere, like a local coffee shop, and pay by telling a worker your name. Your Square ID automatically shows up on the merchant's iPad or iPhone Square app, and your purchase is charged to your account.

Gmail for iOS Sucks So Much That Google Already Removed it From the App Store

Well, it didn't take long for Google to remove its new Gmail app for iOS from the App Store. Just about 3 hours after it was first available, it is now nowhere to be found.

If you try to download the app right now, you'll be greeted with an error message telling you the item you requested is not currently available in the US Store. If you've already downloaded and tried to use the Gmail app, it probably doesn't come as a surprise to you that Google already took it down...

Apple Releases GarageBand for iPhone

Apple has just released GarageBand for iPhone in the App Store. The update has been applied to the iPad app and will make GarageBand a universal app for the iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad.

GarageBand on the iPhone has been a long time coming, and now users will be able to create and playback tracks on the go from the iPhone.

Popular Finance Service Mint Launches Official iPad App

Mint.com is known as one of the best personal finance services around, with apps on a variety of platforms. Although Mint has had an iPhone app for quite some time, it just now released an official iPad version in the App Store.

Mint for iPad gives users a visually interactive view of their finances and options for managing budgets.
