New Report Suggest Verizon iPhone Not Creating Many New iPhone Users

I've seen it, and no doubt you've seen it. A new iPhone is released and people get excited; people line up hours in advance just to get their hands on the latest goods from Apple.

Then there are the folks that have never even owned an iPhone before; many of them are excited as well because this new release will be their first taste of the iPhone.

My point is, if there's one thing that the introduction of a new iPhone does, it's bring excitement to the mobile phone landscape, and guarantee a heaping helping of first time adopters.

Unfortunately, it looks as if the Verizon iPhone 4 didn't quite accomplish that...

Apple Posts Differences Between CDMA and GSM iPhone 4

Yesterday, we posted a data speed comparison, comparing AT&T and Verizon networks. While Verizon seemed to do better than AT&T in every way (in the San Francisco area, at least), it looks like the Verizon iPhone has some shortcomings as well.

Although we missed it, it seems that Apple had posted a comparison chart last week, detailing the differences between the GSM and CDMA versions of the iPhone. This comparison chart solely focuses on how the GSM and CDMA versions of the iPhone handle calls...

Verizon iPhone Sales Lower Than Expected

I'm not going to say that I told you so, but you know, I kinda did. One of BGR's sources at Apple shared some interesting numbers about Verizon iPhone sales on its first week, and apparently, the numbers are lower than both Apple and Verizon anticipated.

If that's any indication of the sales trend, BGR's source states that there were about 550,000 iPhone 4 pre-ordered between Verizon and Apple and maybe even more interesting are the sales numbers for 5 Apple Store combined on the first week, including 2 major stores (most likely including the iconic Apple Store on Fifth avenue)...

Verizon Offering Monthly Discount and a $200 Rebate for the iPhone with FIOS Purchase

Verizon is using the iPhone for some cross promotion. Big Red is welcoming potential iPhone customers by offering a $200 rebate towards the iPhone with the purchase of Verizon's FIOS bundle. Customers will also receive a $5-$20 monthly discount on their plan with the purchase of FIOS.

Verizon has also updated its free FIOS DVR app for the iPhone, giving iPhone users another reason to use FIOS TV. If you're interested in what Verizon has to offer, these new discounts certainly sweeten the deal...

Apple to Customers: “You Don’t Have to Hold it Wrong Anymore”

If you're in the US and go to Apple's website right now, you'll probably going to be greeted by the image of 2 iPhones: the AT&T one, and the newly released Verizon iPhone. If you have a closer look at this image, you can see that the position of the hand is different from one phone to the other.

The hand barely touches the AT&T iPhone, whereas it is fully gripping the Verizon iPhone. So, is Apple trying to tell us something?

Verizon vs AT&T, Comparing Data Speeds on the iPhone

Now that Verizon carries the iPhone 4 on its CDMA network, there is a new way to compare iPhone data speeds with AT&T's infrastructure.

People have been comparing the Verizon and AT&T iPhone's data speeds, and CNET has posted a very detailed comparison of how the two networks compete with each other on the iPhone. The results weren't that surprising; Verizon seemed to do better than AT&T in almost every way...

Mobile Ad Firm Estimates How Many Verizon iPhones Are Currently in Use

Giddy about how many customers AT&T will lose now that an alternative carrier is available in the US? You're not alone.

Mobile Ad Firm, Chitika, has established a live tracker that tracks the number of Verizon iPhone's that currently access its ad network via cellular signal.

Right now, that total stands at 3.6%, which likely means that there are a little over one million Verizon iPhone's currently in use...

AT&T Offers 1,000 Free Minutes to iPhone Customers

Yesterday AT&T started sending text messages to its iPhone customers, offering them 1,000 bonus rollover minutes. After waiting a few hours for my SMS to come in, I kinda forgot all about it until I saw a tweet from TUAW's Victor Agreda confirming AT&T's "gift".

Don't you think AT&T has been very generous lately? First they offered unlimited data to some special customers, then they changed their texting plans to give us more for less, then they gave 20% off iPhone accessories and 2GB of free data to tethering customers, and finally, they are offering free mobile to mobile calling to some of their customers.

If I didn't know any better, I'd think that AT&T is trying to prevent us from switching to Verizon...

How to Jailbreak the Verizon iPhone

It's official, the Verizon iPhone is here for everyone to purchase and go home with. If you just got your hands on one of them, the first thing you might want to do is to jailbreak your Verizon iPhone.

Not sure what jailbreaking is and why you should do it? Make sure to read our explanation of jailbreaking, and the reasons why you would want to jailbreak the Verizon iPhone. If you're still on the fence after reading this because you worry the FBI might bust down your door for jailbreaking your iPhone, know that jailbreaking is 100% legal, at least here in the US.

This being said, this guide will show you how to jailbreak a Verizon iPhone running iOS 4.2.6 using GreenPois0n...

Verizon iPhone Not as Successful as They Want You to Believe

Last week, Verizon started taking pre-orders for the iPhone 4 and issued a press release later on, highlighting how this pre-order day was the best day ever in terms of sales for Verizon. Because the press release didn't mention any number of units sold, I called BS on it and speculated that sales were probably much smaller than expected.

Today is the big day for Verizon. It's the first day where anyone and everyone can walk in a store (Apple, Verizon, Walmart, etc) and go home with a brand new Verizon iPhone. So I decided to jump in my car and go to the Apple Store and Verizon Store near me to see how they were doing. I expected 10 people or less at each store, but it seems I was too optimistic...

In a report yesterday, we informed you about the new 'Mobile to Any Mobile' plan that AT&T has rolled out this morning.

Boy Genius Report has acquired an official AT&T memo detailing the requirements that customers must meet in order to be eligible for the new voice feature...
