AT&T Offers iPhone 3GS Refurb for $9

A recent rumor is that Apple will start offering the iPhone 3GS as its "low-end" consumer device this Fall with a $350 off-contract price tag. Previously, it was speculated that Apple would introduce a second iPhone 'Nano' model in the coming months for the prepaid and cheaper phone markets.

AT&T has started offering the 8GB iPhone 3GS as a refurb for only $9. Usually, these types of price drops mean that a carrier is trying to get remaining units off the shelves, so we find it unlikely that the 3GS will be of any interest to Apple come this Fall.

Now I'm as tired of these next-gen iPhone rumors as the next person, but when industry-insider Jonathan Geller says he's received iPhone information from a "solid source," it's hard to ignore it. Geller's site, Boy Genius Report, has been home to several Apple exclusives in the past.

His latest report confirms that Apple will indeed be launching two different versions of the iPhone this Fall. One iPhone 4S/5 model will replace the current iPhone 4, and there will also be a cheaper model for the low-end and prepaid markets...

It seems like a long time ago since This is my next reported on the possibility of an iPad HD this year. 3rd-generation Apple tablet rumors have been running rampant. The next-gen iPad is expected to sport a screen with double the resolution of its predecessor, and debut sometime this fall.

Though the gossip is getting stronger, you can't help but be skeptical, as Apple's never released products in 6-8 month increments. Not only that, but how can they expect to ship a new tablet when they can barely make enough of the previous version to go around?

Amazon Planning Tablet Computer to Battle the iPad

Amazon is preparing its own consumer tablet for an October release, according to The Wall Street Journal. Reportedly, the online mega-merchant is going to introduce a 9-inch, Android-based tablet to go head to head with Apple's iPad.

With different Android tablets hitting the shelves left and right, it's interesting to see a company like Amazon enter the mix. Will Amazon's tablet be the iPad killer?

It's crazy to me that the iPad 2 just launched 6 months ago, and already there seems to be a slew of iPad 3 rumors flying about. Personally, I can't picture Apple launching another tablet this year, but we've been hearing all kinds of gossip that suggests otherwise.

The word on the street is that Apple is looking to release a 3rd iPad this fall. The device is expected to have double the screen resolution of the iPad 2, and will be geared toward the "Pro" crowd in need of a sharper display...

According to Chinese-language site Sohu.com, the lack of a new iPhone this year could be down to a manufacturing problem with the handset's fancy new A5 processor.

The problem, according to 9to5Mac, is that Apple's oh-so-clever iPhone engineers are having issues with the A5 CPU getting a tad warm, what with the iPhone being so small and space being at a premium...

Hold on to your hats, 9to5Mac has submitted another piece of evidence that points to an October release of the next iPhone. This time around, the information also suggests that Apple could be launching a prepaid device this Fall.

Virgin announced yesterday that it is going to be making some plan changes to its Sprint-based prepaid network this fall. Unlimited data plans will go up to $35, and users who cross 2.5GB during their bill cycle will see a significant decrease in speed. When does all of this start taking place?

China Telecom Will Offer iPhone Before Year’s End

China Telecom, a carrier in the world's largest mobile market, plans to offer the iPhone before the end of this year. Rumors are that Apple has been talking behind closed doors with China Telecom execs for months about bringing the iPhone to the Chinese market, and Apple's acting CEO, Tim Cook, was recently spotted at China Mobile HQ.

It's unclear as to when China Telecom will sell the iPhone exactly, but it's expected that we'll see Apple's flagship device on the carrier by at least December...
