MuscleNerd, pimskeks, planetbeing and pod2g team up as the ‘evad3rs’

So this is kind of interesting. Amidst all of the recent talk of the iOS 6 jailbreak nearing completion, pod2g has made a rather unexpected announcement. Apparently he, and three other well known iOS hackers are forming a team.

That team is called 'evad3rs,' and it consists of MuscleNerd, of iPhone Dev-Team fame, pimskeks from the Chronic-Dev Team, planetbeing, who has been working diligently on the latest jailbreak, and of course there's pod2g...

The future of jailbreaking is very bright

Last month, I posted a slightly controversial article entitled: 3 reasons why jailbreaking is waning in popularity. In it, I highlighted several points as to why jailbreaking was on a downturn. In hindsight, although I still stand by the post, I probably should have qualified my reasoning a bit better.

The real reason that jailbreaking is "waning" if you will, is because there simply is no jailbreak available for new devices. The recent bar graph showing jailbroken devices proves as much. I tried to say that, but I don't think it came across that way. Whatever the case may be, it looks as if that primary reason will soon no longer apply.

Hackers pod2g, planetbeing, and others have been working diligently on the iPhone 5/iOS 6 jailbreak for quite some time now. They've made great progress, as highlighted in Mike's post about the collaborative effort.

In fact, things are going so well, that one famous hacker in particular has just proclaimed that the future is looking bright for jailbreaking...

More developers spotted in the iOS 6 jailbreak effort

You're probably familiar with two developers by the name of David Wang and Cyril Cattiaux, also known as PlanetBeing and pod2g. If you're reading this, you're likely waiting for them to release an untethered jailbreak for iOS 6 and the iPhone 5. The good news is they're not working on the jailbreak alone.

The iOS 6 jailbreaking effort seems to be picking up speed as other developers have begun contributing their own expertise to the movement. Here are the recent developments...

Pod2g and planetbeing make progress on iOS 6 jailbreak

So here's something we haven't heard in a while: good news on the jailbreak front. It looks like now that pod2g has completed his first iOS app, entitled podDJ, the security expert has turned his attention to hacking iOS 6.

His return alone is great news, since it seems like he's been gone from the community forever. But to add to the excitement, the hacker just announced that he and planetbeing recently discovered two new vulnerabilities...

Planetbeing says he has an iOS 6.0.2 untethered jailbreak now, but we must be patient

iOS hacker Planetbeing posted on Reddit earlier today about the status of the iPhone 5/iOS 6 untethered jailbreak. While there have been many messages regarding the viability of a jailbreak, the famous iOS hacker insists that it's only a matter of time before a jailbreak is a reality.

In other words, we need to be patient while the guys who have proven themselves time and time again put in work...

Hackers talk iOS 6 jailbreak in HITB panel discussion

A little over a month ago, Pod2g, MuscleNerd and other hackers held a panel discussion at the Hack in the Box conference in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. A few topics were mentioned, but the focus of the talk was jailbreaking.

We already posted a 30 minute excerpt from the discussion, but it was missing some interesting stuff. So we were happy to see a video of the full hour-long talk uploaded yesterday, and we've got it for you after the break...

Watch pod2g, MuscleNerd and others in HITB iOS panel discussion

Earlier this month, we told you about an interesting panel discussion that was going to take place at the Hack in the Box conference in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The panel consisted of MuscleNerd, pod2g, and other well known hackers. And they were going to be discussing iOS security.

But if you missed the live stream, never fear. The folks over at HITBSecConf have uploaded a video of the entire 30 minute long discussion and we've got it posted for you after the break. If you haven't seen it yet, it's really worth watching. There's a lot of interesting jailbreaking info...

Pod2g, MuscleNerd and others to take part in HITB discussion panel

Hot on the heels of last week's JailbreakCon convention, another event is set to take place on October 11th featuring some prominent members of the jailbreaking community.

On October 11th, in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, MuscleNerd, pod2g and other well-known hackers will take part in a discussion panel at this year's Hack in the Box conference...

Watch part 2 of the Dream Team’s HITB talk

Yesterday, we showed you part one of the Dream Team's talk at this year's Hack In The Box conference. The section covered the exploits that were used in Corona, and other A4 jailbreak details.

Part two of the talk went live today, and in our opinion it's much more interesting. In it, the Team discusses the A5 jailbreak, and throws in a nice little 'one more thing' announcement at the end...

The Chronic Dev Team is working hard to bring iPad 2,4 support to Absinthe

If you happen to own a newer WiFi only iPad 2,4, you undoubtedly know what it feels like to be left out of the fun. That's because the iPad 2,4 is one of the very few iOS 5.1.1 devices that can't be jailbroken with the new Absinthe 5.1.1 untethered jailbreak tool. Outside of the Apple TV 3, you're among some pretty lonely company.

Fortunately, it looks like all of that is about to change. During the initial release of Absinthe, the team of hackers stated that iPad 2,4 support was coming soon, and it looks like that statement is holding true.

iPhone 4S and iPad 2 Untethered Jailbreak Released

A huge thanks is owed to the dream team of hackers including pod2g, p0sixninja, MuscleNerd, planetbeing, Saurik, and no-doubt countless others.
