Upgrade your iPhone’s Camera app with smoothCamera

Apple’s smartphones tend to be top-notch in terms of mobile photography, but if there’s one thing I can’t stand about the iPhone’s native Camera app, it would have to be its black and boxy appearance, which in my opinion, feels particularly constraining.

If you’re interested in upgrading the appearance of your iPhone’s native Camera app, then you just might enjoy a newly released and free jailbreak tweak dubbed smoothCamera by iOS developer CydiaGeek.

iPhone 11 will debut a new coprocessor, let you apply effects when shooting video in real time

The tentatively named iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max smartphones will succeed Apple's current iPhone XR, iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max family at an event next month. The new handsets will reportedly heavily focus on improvements in the camera department. According to Bloomberg, the high-end models will sport significantly upgraded video recording capabilities, "getting them closer to professional video cameras," and be outfitted with a third sensor for capturing ultra-wide-angle photos and videos.

PortraitXI enables native Portrait photography on single-lens handsets

Apple’s iPhones sport some of the best mobile point-and-shoot cameras in the industry. While their megapixel counts aren’t always as high as some of the Android-powered handsets out there, an iPhone’s camera stands apart from the rest because of the powerful software that drives it, and this includes the Portrait mode that comes baked into the native Camera app.

Portrait mode comes in handy at times when trying to snap the ideal photograph of a subject – be it an object or a person. Sadly, it’s limited to handsets that are equipped with dual cameras, with the iPhone XR being the lone exception to this rule, but jailbreakers can now take advantage of a newly-released jailbreak tweak called PortraitXI by iOS developer foxfortmobile to circumvent this needless limitation.
