Jailbreaking iOS 5 Beta 3 Will Cause Apps from the App Store to Not Work

iOS 5 Beta 3 has been out for barely half a day, and it's already been confirmed that you can jailbreak Apple's latest beta release with RedSn0w. That's good news for jailbreakers, even if it is only a tethered jailbreak.

Don't get too excited, though. Because it seems that jailbreaking iOS 5 Beta 3 will result in you no longer being able to run apps from the App Store...

20 New Tones Available in iOS 5 Beta 3 [Updated]

Apple released iOS 5 Beta 3 earlier today, and as usual when a new build is available, we are tracking down every cool new feature. I just found out about this new one while playing around the Settings app for my iPad.

If you go to Settings > General > Sounds and select "Text Tone," for example, you will be offered many more tones to choose from. I'm not 100% sure how many of these tones are new. but it seems to me that iOS 5 Beta 3 gives us access to 20 more tones...

Those of you who have been experiencing bugs after using JailbreakMe will be glad to find out that Comex made some fixes to the kernel patches for the userland jailbreak, and these fixes have been pushed as an "Essential Upgrade" in Cydia.

To get this update, simply launch Cydia and you should be prompted to upgrade. Make sure you do not run JailbreakMe again over your current jailbreak. Instead, let Cydia do the job for you...

RedSn0w Can Jailbreak iOS 5 Beta 3

Good news for jailbreakers who happen to have a legit (or not) developer account and want to jailbreak the latest iOS 5 beta 3 firmware released earlier today. According to a tweet from MuscleNerd a few minutes ago, you can use RedSn0w to jailbreak iOS 5 beta 3.

In order to jailbreak your iDevice running iOS 5 beta 3, you will need to download the latest version of RedSn0w which was released about a month ago. All you need to do is point RedSnow to iOS 5 beta 1, instead of pointing it to beta 3...

Apple Releases iTunes 10.5 Beta 3

Following the release of iOS 5 beta 3 earlier today, Apple also updated iTunes to version 10.5 beta 3. Needless to say that this update is for developers only, although it seems stable enough for anyone to use, assuming you know where to get it.

If you just downloaded iOS 5 beta 3, you will need to install iTunes 10.5 beta 3 in order to install the latest iOS version on your device. From what I see, iTunes 10.5 beta 3 is safe for jailbreakers so there is nothing to worry on that side...

iPod Touch 3G Concept

Over the past week or so, there have been rumors floating around about a 3G-Enabled iPod Touch coming later this fall. If this were happen, you would be able to use 3G data on your iPod Touch, for Facetime, iMessages, etc. You would also be able to use a VoIP app, such as Skype or Viber, to call people from your iPod Touch.

We took this concept to Photoshop, and we came up with the iPod Touch 3G. It looks exactly like the current iPod Touch, but has a black strip on the back. It also says "3G" in the menu bar. Along with that, it also features an integrated SIM card, as the next iPhone is rumored to have...

How to Bypass Time Warner Cable App Restriction on Jailbroken iPads

Last week we told you about how Time Warner Cable was restricting owners of jailbroken iPads to use their application. If you launch their app on a jailbroken iPad, you will get a message informing you that "TWCable TV is not supported on jailbroken devices."

At the time, I speculated that this measure was to prevent non TWC subscriber to use the application, and I still believe this is the reason behind the block. As usual, the jailbreak community was quick to react and a .deb file was made available on the same day, allowing jailbroken iPads to use the app anyway...

Apple’s Two New iPhone Ads: FaceTime and AirPlay

In an attempt to get even more iPhone 4s shipped out the door before the supposed iPhone 5/4S release later this year, Apple has released two new ads, showing off two of the handset's marquee features.

Apple's iconic iPhone ads are no doubt on a par with the much-loved 'Get a Mac' ads, and the two new additions follow the same theme....

iDJ Live: Give Your iDevice Some Real 1s and 2s

The sharp and responsive screen found on Apple's iDevices make them a hotbed for DJ applications. Since the App Store's inception, we've seen several DJ'ing applications that try and capture the addicting music-mixing art.

One of our all time favorites is djay by algoriddim. Its easy to use interface and unique AUTOMIX feature make for a solid DJ app. Obviously, touchscreens have limitations that make it difficult to do any serious record spinning, but iDJ Live might have a solution for us..

‘BookmarksBarEnhancer’ Adds a New Context Menu to Your iPad’s Bookmarks Bar

The bookmarks bar is a handy little feature found in the iPad version of mobile Safari, but it's even more useful with this jailbreak tweak.

BookmarksBarEnhancer adds a nifty context menu to the items in your bookmarks bar. This menu can be easily invoked by tapping and holding on your bookmark of choice.

Once invoked, you'll be presented with the option to open, open in new window, or copy your favorite items. This is helpful for those times when you want to open a bookmark, but don't want to lose your current page. Check out the full video walkthrough inside...

Record Video Instantly From Your iPhone’s Home Screen with Capture

With Apple's iPhone 4 possessing one of the best cameras for recording HD video around, it's understandable that we all want to get as much use out of it as possible.

The only problem with the iOS Camera app is it's just so slow to access. Add in the time taken to tap the icon for changing from still to camera mode, and chances are you've just missed whatever it was you wanted to film in the first place.

Capture is an App Store app that offers a much quicker way to record video on the iPhone, without the need to sit and wait for Apple's own app to go through the motions...
