Florida School Will be Giving Students iPads Instead of Textbooks This Year

Typically, gadgets are frowned on by teachers and affiliated staff (or as I like to call them, education enforcers). But that doesn't seem to be the case at Lake Minneola High School in Lake County Florida.

According to the SunSentinel, Lake Minneola will be the first public school in Central Florida to purchase an iPad for every student. The move is part of a state pilot program designed to save money on textbooks, and offer a new approach to education...

Apple Rolls Out 90 Second iTunes Song Previews Worldwide

It's taken nine months, but the world finally has the same 90 second iTunes song previews that the United States gained way back in November 2010.

The change-over to the new and improved previews is currently underway, with not all songs yet sporting the full 90 seconds, though we suspect that's more of a technical thing than Apple only providing longer previews for certain tracks.

Those tracks that have been upgraded now offer previews that are three times longer than the previous 30 seconds...

Yet again, we bring you news of iPhone 5 cases. According to MIC Gadget, iPhone 5 cases are "now everywhere" in China. The site has another gallery of the new designs, and these appear to be no different than any of the other cases we have showed you.

Chinese manufacturers appear to be confident that this is the design for the iPhone 5, as they have started mass producing them already. There is a huge incentive for these companies to have cases ready when the product comes out...

HomeScreenMusic: Control Your Tracks by Tapping a Springboard Icon

One of my favorite things about the iOS iPod app is the fact that you can control the music from almost anywhere. You can pause or play tracks from the in-line remote, the lock screen, and even in the multitasking bar.

Jailbreaking opens up several other possibilities with utilities like Activator and SBSettings. But if all of these options weren't enough, you now have another tweak to consider. HomeScreenMusic gives you access to iPod controls right on your springboard...

New iPhone 5 Case Pictures Suggest Thinner, Wider, and Sleeker Design

There have been a lot of rumors floating around about the iPhone 5, especially this close to the alleged launch date. The rumors have been that new iPhone will be slimmer, have a bigger screen, and have a curved design.

With all the leaked iPhone case pictures making the rounds, it certainly seems that way. Today we have new pictures from 9to5mac that give you a pretty good look at the potential design...

One Man’s Trash – Why No Cydia Tweak is Completely Worthless

Sound off the alarm. It looks as if a few folks have gotten spoiled. Either that, or they’re beginning to take for granted the benefits that jailbreaking brings to the table; namely, the ability to tweak our iPhone’s in any matter that we please.

For that reason, I try my hardest — although it is admittedly difficult at times — to take an objective stance on any tweak that comes across my desk...

GVIntegrated Integrates Google Voice into iOS Phone App

Jailbreak developers have seemingly been on a role over the last few weeks, producing top-notch tweaks like CallBar and Apptivator. Well the streak doesn't seem to be over, as yet another quality utility has landed in Cydia.

GVIntegrated is an iPhone package that installs a Google Voice client into your native iPhone app. Once installed, users can initiate a Google Voice call from the iOS dial pad...

More White iPod Touch Parts Surface

Last week we brought you some photos, published by 9to5Mac, of a possible next-gen iPod Touch part. The piece was particularly interesting because it was white. As you might know, previous versions of the iPod Touch have always been black with a stainless steel backing.

Now, the same blog that brought us the original photos of the white iPod Touch casing has gotten its hands on more pictures. While the original snapshots were taken in Asian, close to Apple's manufacturing plants, these new pics come from here in America...

Sprint Feeling the Effects of Not Carrying the iPhone

The United States' 3rd largest wireless carrier held their quarterly earnings call yesterday, and the company posted a net loss of $847 million. In wake of the poor performance, Sprint's stock dropped nearly 16% by the time the market closed last night.

Although they added a cool million customers last quarter, the company lost 101,000 contacts. What could be causing such a massive leak? Sprint cited Apple's popular smartphone, especially the $49 iPhone 3GS, as a major factor for the customer deflections...
