Apple Preparing Cheaper 8GB iPhone 4 With iPhone 5 for End of September Launch

A new report from Reuters states that Apple is planning a cheaper 8GB version of the iPhone 4 to unveil alongside an iPhone 5 flagship device at the end of September. The iPhone 5 will look "largely identical" to the updated iPhone 4, but it will have a larger screen, better antenna and 8 megapixel camera.

Previous rumors were that Apple wouldn't launch a new iPhone until early October, with a possible announcement at the end of September. There have been whispers of two new iPhone models coming this Fall, and this "cheaper" 8GB iPhone 4 will clearly be targeted towards the cheaper mobile market.

More Evidence Points Towards iPhone 5 as Global Device

TechCrunch's Robin Wauters reports what we have been assuming for quite some time now: the iPhone 5 will be a global world phone, by essentially enabling you to roam on any network worldwide.

The report lists the mounting evidence, which backs up this earlier claim by Verizon CFO Fran Shammo, that the next iPhone would indeed have the ability to roam globally.

This is very good news for travelers, who won't have to worry about the hassle of no coverage in areas where only one type of service (CDMA or GSM) is available...

Lenovo CEO Isn’t Afraid of Apple, Plans to Dominate Tablet Market

There was no shortage of media coverage last week as Apple officially passed Lenovo in revenue by hitting $3.8 billion on Lenovo's home turf of greater China (thanks largely in part to the iPhone and iPad).

However, according to a report from the FinancialTimes, Lenovo CEO Yang Yuanquing doesn't want to believe the numbers claiming the comparison is unfair. His reasoning? Basically, Lenovo's phone business doesn't make as much money as Apple's...

iPhone 4 and 3GS are Best-Selling Smartphones in US

With all of the statistics flying about regarding Android and Apple handset sales, it's extremely easy to get confused. Sometimes you hear that iPhones are topping the charts, and other times you see that Android is "leading the market."

MacRumors points to a survey done by the NPD research firm that might just help clear the air. Their quarterly Mobile Phone Track report gives some serious insight into who is the top-dog in the mobile industry...

In this day in age it seems like carriers are more focused on "streamlining" their wireless plans rather than introducing new ones. In fact, AT&T followed up its unlimited data plan-ban by getting rid of its $10 SMS package.

Verizon, on the other hand, has just introduced a new wireless plan to serve up data for low-end customers. The $20 per month plan will give users 300MB of data per month, and is available now through September 30. Read on for more details...

Stedicam Smoothee Helps Bring Out Your Inner Spielberg

I know it's not quite Full HD, but the iPhone 4 still captures decent video. In fact, as long as the lighting is decent and the subjects you're recording aren't frantically moving about, the device can churn out some pretty impressive footage.

However, without a tripod or a mount, there's a good chance that your videos will come out shaky. The iPhone doesn't come with an image stabilizer, so unless you have the steady hands of a trained sniper, you're out of luck. Enter the Stedicam Smoothee...

Why You Prefer Rounded Corners in iOS 5

If you're a fan of Apple's decision to move to rounded toggle buttons in iOS 5, and prefer the new design over the square alternatives found in iOS 4, then you're experiencing the outcome of pure science, according to UX Movement.

What at first glace appears to be a minor aesthetic change actually has a scientific reasoning behind it, with rounded objects being easier to look at, and in turn, process...
