In fact, some pundits believe that Apple is going to discontinue the iPhone 5 later this month. And today comes purported evidence of that theory, with a leaked carrier inventory screenshot showing multiple current-gen iPhones being discontinued on September 28...

First there was the Jambox. Then there was the larger, aptly-named Big Jambox. And today Jawbone announced the Mini Jambox. The mini is the company's third entry into the portable Bluetooth space, helping round out the Jambox line.

But don't let the 'Mini' name fool you. It's actually not that much smaller than the original Jambox, with virtually the same height and width. In fact, the only dimension you'll notice a difference in is depth—they've shaved about 1/3 of it off...

Court rules iTunes FairPlay DRM did not monopolize digital music sales

In a Wednesday ruling, a three-judge San Francisco court found that although Apple controlled 99 percent of the digital music and digital music player market after imposing FairPlay, the company did not prevent rivals from competing.

The lawsuit had claimed Apple's DRM prevented songs purchased at iTunes from playing on anything other than its iPod...

Rumor: brand new portable Apple product being developed

For the first time, mobile devices with a screen between five and seven inches - colloquially named phablets - are now outselling both PCs and tablets in Asia. That said, it doesn't surprise us that Apple's supply chain partners and analysts have been calling for an Apple-branded phablet for some time now. For the time being, however, an iPhablet remains just a pipedream.

Should a new report be trusted, the iPhone maker could instead be working on a new portable device. Likely powered by Apple's iOS mobile operating system, the mystery gizmo could fall between the current full-size 9.7-inch iPad and the MacBook Air lineup, which comes in eleven and thirteen-inch flavors...

IDC: in Asia, phablets now outselling both PCs and tablets

If a camel is a horse created by committee, then a phablet is a device built by indecision between a smartphone and tablet. Whatever the definition, popularity of the product with a screen between five and seven inches diagonally is skyrocketing in much of Asia. According to IDC, sales of phablets led tablets and portable PCs, up 620 percent in the second quarter compared to the same period in 2012...
