Should you jailbreak your iOS device today?

Evasi0n7 is likely the most controversial jailbreak to date. It comes with its fair share of mysteries, and maybe even betrayals, if you believe some of the drama-infused reports about it. We tried to our best to explain why evasi0n7 was released today and what the deal is with Taiji, hoping people would make up their mind about whether or not it's worth jailbreaking today.

Because there is still a bit of confusion about the usefulness of evasi0n7 at this time, we thought it'd be helpful to put up a list of reasons why you should or shouldn't jailbreak your iOS device...

Geohot is back on Twitter

We've known this information for a while but since it's now official, there is no more reason for us to sit on it. George Hotz, also know as geohot, also known as the first person to ever unlock an iPhone is back on Twitter.

After closing his account a couple years ago, geohot is back on the social network, and what we can tell is that he's not Tom Cruise!

Why the evad3rs released their iOS 7 jailbreak today

iOS 7 has been available for about three months now, three very long months for jailbreak fanatics who can't fathom the idea of not having their favorite tweaks on their device. As always, a lot of pressure was put on the prominent jailbreak team of the moment: the evad3rs.

But unlike last year when evad3rs would regularly give updates about their progress, we haven't heard anything about the jailbreak until this morning when evasi0n7 dropped. With the upcoming release of iOS 7.1, it actually seems that this jailbreak was rushed out the door.

We talked with a reliable source close to the situation to gather more information about the surprising release of evasi0n7...

List of iOS 7 compatible jailbreak tweaks

Ok, now that you've jailbroken your iOS device running iOS 7 with evasi0n7, what do you do? Which tweaks work and which ones don't? This is one of the most frequently asked questions we've received this morning, so we figured we'd better start making a list.

Most tweaks that rely on Mobile Substrate aren't working, as it's currently broken, but there are a few that seem to be ok. Below you'll find all of the iOS 7 compatible jailbreak tweaks that we're aware of, broken down into those working, and those 'sort of' working...

What is Taig and what does China have to do with the evasi0n7 jailbreak?

Chinese jailbreakers were up for a surprise this morning when they decided to run evasi0n7 to jailbreak their iOS 7 devices. Instead of finding Cydia installed on their Home screen as you normally do, they found a different installer named Taig – believed to be pronounced Taiji (please correct me if I'm wrong).

How does this Chinese installer get installed on your device? Why would Cydia be put aside for Chinese users? Did the evad3rs get paid one million dollars to strike a deal with a Chinese company? A few questions that I hope to answer in the upcoming paragraphs.

After talking with a reliable source close to the evad3rs, I was given some information on the confusion surrounding the release of this jailbreak. Note that this is me relaying this information as it was given to me. I am not saying everything you read in this post is the truth. What you read in this post is the information that was passed on to me by an incredibly reliable source with detailed knowledge of the situation...

Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars returns to the App Store with Retina display support

As you may or may not have known, Rockstar pulled Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars from the App Store back in September. They said the removal was due to an incompatibility with iOS 7, and that they would investigate a fix for it.

Well the game made its triumphant return to the App Store this weekend, with fix and all. Now, the popular Grand Theft Auto title is fully compatible with the latest version of iOS, and Rockstar even added in support for Retina displays...
