I may have mentioned before that I like to take pictures of bands. I’m always trying to get great pictures of a guitarist doing a mid-solo jump, or a singer climbing around on PA speakers. It’s a lot harder than you’d think, especially using the iPhone camera since the shutter triggers just a bit slower than I’d like.

Apple seeds OS X 10.9.3 build 13D61 to developers

Apple has seeded another beta for OS X 10.9.3 to registered Mac developers this afternoon. The update comes just one week after the eighth beta was released, which brought about few notable changes.

The new build is available to developers via an update in the Mac App Store or as a download on Apple’s online developer center. It does not, however, appear to be out in Apple’s new Beta Seed program yet…

United Airlines app updated with new in-flight streaming video service

Back in March, we told you that United Airlines was on the verge of launching a new in-flight movie service for iOS users. The service would allow iPhone and iPad owners to watch over 150 movies and 200 TV shows on their devices for free.

The program launched last month on select aircraft, and today the official United Airlines app was updated to support it. With the app installed, users on compatible planes will be able to access free media while connected to Wi-Fi in-flight...

Talisman review: an old-school board game comes to life on the iPad

Talisman is a fantasy board game that first came out in 1983. Fans of role-playing titles were keen on this adventure because it mixes traditional adventuring with a bit of character stats building. The game has been revised three times and has about a half dozen expansions under its name.

Talisman: Digital Edition is the only official licensed version of the decades old game and uses the revised fourth-edition rulebook. Apple’s PR chief Katie Cotton retiring

Apple’s longtime PR boss, Katie Cotton, is set to retire after spending eighteen years with the company. As Apple's Vice President of Worldwide Corporate Communications, Cotton managed Apple's media relations and handled all public relations matters under both Apple co-founder Steve Jobs and current CEO Tim Cook.

Her retirement was first reported by Re/code. An Apple spokesman said Cotton was leaving because she had wanted to spend more time with her family "for some time now"...

Apple discontinues iPhone 4 in India, all over again

According to a new report, Apple has discontinued its four-year-old iPhone 4 smartphone model in India. Although the Cupertino firm had re-launched the handset in the 1.24 billion people market back in January, it's now been removed after mere 4 months.

This is an unusual move on Apple's part: the iPhone 4 was re-introduced as Apple's most affordable phone in India in order to help regain some of the share Apple rapidly lost amid the onslaught of cheap Android handsets.

During the January-March quarter, Apple's unit share in India was a CyberMedia estimated 2.4 percent versus the #1 Samsung which took 38.9 percent of handset sales...
