How to disable WhatsApp Read receipts

You probably already know the two blue check marks you see next to your messages in WhatsApp conversations are Read receipts indicating your contact has indeed read your message. This is a blessing and a curse. It's a blessing because it can be very helpful at times, when you want to make sure your friend read your message for example. It can also be a curse, because you can't really pretend you didn't read a message if you actually have.

These problems are now a thing of the past with WhatsApp recent update that lets you disable and enable Read receipts at will. In this post, I'll show you how to disable WhatsApp Read receipts.

Google unveils ‘Project Fi,’ an MVNO with plans starting at $20 per month

After years of rumors and speculation, Google is officially getting into the wireless business. The tech giant on Wednesday announced "Project Fi," an MVNO (mobile virtual network operator) set to shake up the wireless industry with plans starting at $20 per month.

Google has teamed up with Sprint and T-Mobile for the project, and it will piggyback on their networks. The service is designed to allow devices to dynamically switch between the carriers' networks and nearby Wi-Fi networks, depending on which offers better service.

Some Apple Watch pre-orders with May and June ship dates now ‘Preparing for Shipment’

Potentially good news today for folks looking at lengthy lead times on their Apple Watch pre-orders. Some customers with 4-6 week and June shipping estimates are reporting that Apple has charged them for their Watch purchases, and their order statuses have changed from 'Processing Items' to 'Preparing for Shipment.'

Given how crazy the Apple Watch launch has been thus far, it's possible that this doesn't mean anything—perhaps it's a system glitch or Apple's trying out a new processing strategy. But typically, these actions indicate that Apple is about to ship an order, and that has raised hopes that Watches will arrive earlier than expected.

Five Apple Watch tips for a more accurate heart rate reading

There's no two ways about it: even under the most ideal of conditions, the Apple Watch may not be able to get a reliable heart rate reading every time for everybody. Now, our recent overview of the Apple Watch's heart rate sensor provided a good starting point for enthusiasts wishing to learn more about the feature. It gives you a better idea of the intricacies and benefits of the custom-designed hardware feature marketed primarily to fitness aficionados.

But the truth is, it's been designed for everyone, really. It's something every Watch customer will be using without even being aware of it, simply by wearing the device (for those wondering, the average human heart rate is about seventy-two beats per minute).

On the back of the Watch is a specially designed sensor protected by a ceramic cover with sapphire lenses, with infrared and visible-light LEDs and photodiodes detecting the amount of blood flowing through your wrist at any given moment.

Knowing your heart rate helps the Watch determine your intensity level during workout while improving the accuracy of your active calorie burn measurements. Therefore, knowing the sensor's limitations and pitfalls is important.

Luckily, there are some things you can do to help the Watch get the most consistent and best heart rate readings possible. Here are five sound tips regarding using this feature optimally and with minimal disruption.

As reported by the British edition of the fashion magazine Vogue, Apple's wrist-worn device was the chief topic of conversation, with Ive discussing how Apple's approach to 21st-century luxury compares with traditional luxury as we know it.

Tiltagon review: a game that’s frustrating, but in all the right ways

Games using tilt controls have certainly come a long way since the early days of the iPhone. Advancements in technology and programming have taken what was once difficult and unwieldy and transformed it into a responsive, valid control scheme. Tiltagon seeks to utilize this new-found precision to create a game that is frustrating, but in all the right ways.

iOttie Easy Touch 2 securely mounts your iPhone 6 to your dashboard

I’ve mentioned before that some states have a ban on dashboard or windshield mounts. Not everyone has to follow that rule, however. Frankly, it is the most convenient way to display your device so it is accessible while driving.

The iOttie Easy Touch 2 is a dashboard/windshield mount that sticks to your car like superglue, but is removable, so you can take down whenever you feel like it.

iSwitch makes the App Switcher card interface transparent

The premise of iSwitch may sound a little goofy at first, but after using the tweak, I was a left with a much better impression about the overall idea than when I started. iSwitch is a tweak that makes the App Switcher cards transparent, but it goes further than that. Not only are the cards transparent, but the interface, including the app icons that normally rest beneath the cards, are displayed on top of the currently running app.

The end result is an App Switcher that can be manipulated on top of an open app. This means that you could be browsing Safari, invoke the App Switcher while Safari is still open and usable, and switch to an app of your liking. It’s not without its downsides, but iSwitch is much cooler than I initially expected. Watch our video preview to see how.
