TaiG releases an untethered jailbreak for iOS 8.3

A jailbreak has been released for iOS 8.3 by the TaiG team. This jailbreak supports iOS 8.1.3 through iOS 8.3 and is Windows only.

See: How to jailbreak iOS 8.3

The tool, which is dubbed TaiG 2.0, can be downloaded right now from our downloads page.

This release is quite interesting, since it was thought that the Pangu team would be the one to release a jailbreak for iOS 8.3 and TaiG would focus on iOS 9. That, obviously, is no longer the case.

SnoozeHelper turns your entire Lock screen into a snooze button

When you're half awake, tapping the tiny "tap to snooze" button on the Lock screen can be a daunting chore. Fortunately, if you're a jailbreaker, it's much easier to snooze an overzealous alarm

By turning your Lock screen into one giant button, SnoozeHelper (free) makes it super easy to snooze a pesky alarm clock. Watch our video walkthrough inside to see what I mean.

Blocked is a new security tweak that lets you limit iPhone access

Jailbreakers Nikias Bassen (Pimskeks) and Melissa Archer have teamed up for a new security-oriented jailbreak tweak called Blocked. Released at WWJC 2015, Blocked brings two new operation modes to the iPhone for enhanced security.

The two modes, SleepMode and GuestMode, each work to block access to certain features. By using Activator gestures, users can quickly and stealthily enter either mode to beef up device security.

Watch our video walkthrough inside to see how to the tweak works.

How to mute tabs in Safari on your Mac

Like pinned tabs, tab muting isn't a new idea, as it's been implemented in other web browsers in the past. But starting with OS X 10.11, Apple has brought native tab muting to the Safari browser.

The ability to mute tabs at will brings more control to the user. It's especially beneficial when encountering those annoying auto-playing advertisements.

In this video walkthrough, I'll show you how to use Safari tab muting, and explain its ins and outs.

Super Mario clone returns to the App Store as ‘Pixel World!’

Earlier this year, a Super Mario clone named Super Bros! made its way into the App Store. Given the company's history of blocking and removing obvious Nintendo game ripoffs and emulators, it was surprising that such a game made it past the review team.

Eventually, though, someone at Apple caught on and Super Bros! was pulled from the App Store, but it didn't stay gone for long. The game returned today as "Pixel World!," with updated sounds and game assets that help tone down the whole "ripoff" vibe a bit.

5 Galaxy S6 features that iPhone users will like

I've been testing out the Samsung Galaxy S6 for some time now, and I've used it for long enough to be able to confidently compile some of my thoughts on what is Apple's main iPhone competitor.

Obviously, the most stand-out feature with this device is the build quality. Samsung, after many Galaxy iterations, has finally stepped up its game when it comes to design materials. The Galaxy S6 is made out of metal instead of plastic, and it's a huge improvement over the cheap-feeling Galaxy phones of yesteryear.

But not only is build quality vastly improved, this phone packs quite a punch with regard to features. In fact, there are even some features that I, as someone who unequivocally prefers the iPhone, can't deny are pretty great. Inside, I'll cover 5 features from the Galaxy S6 that many iPhone users will enjoy.

Chevy’s first CarPlay-enabled vehicles heading to dealers

Chevrolet's first CarPlay-enabled vehicles have begun shipping from production facilities, reports TechCrunch. The automaker shared the above image of the cars rolling off the assembly line, and says that they are on their way to dealers and consumers.

The cars are of the 2016 Corvette Z06 variety, which features a staggering 650 horsepower and a base price of $80K. The Vette is the second CarPlay-enabled vehicle to become available for purchase, after the Ferrari FF, since it was introduced last year.

Tweetbot for Mac brings support for Twitter’s new quoting format and longer direct messages

Tweetbot for Mac with support for Yosemite's design and a plethora of other improvements hit earlier in the month as a free upgrade for existing users. Monday, its developer Tapbots issued the first maintenance refresh bringing out support for a pair of Twitter's recently introduced handy new features.

Tweetbot 2.0.1 for Mac now lets you quote tweets using Twitter's new embedded quoting feature. In addition, they've laid the groundwork for longer direct messages, a feature Twitter announced almost two weeks ago but hasn't implemented yet.

Is your Mac able to take advantage of OS X El Capitan’s Metal?

When OS X 10.11 El Capitan launches this fall, it will feature Metal, a graphics framework Apple originally introduced for iPhones, iPads and iPods following the release of iOS 8 last fall. In addition to making El Capitan's user interface and apps perform smoother than before, Metal for Mac is absolutely huge news for game developers and makers of graphics-intensive apps.

Like on iOS, El Capitan's Metal significantly reduces the overhead of graphics frameworks such as OpenGL by enabling low-level access to your Mac's graphics subsystem. Photo apps, games and video editing software like Adobe After Effects will experience up to ten times faster draw call performance by offloading certain tasks from the CPU onto the GPU.

But does your Mac sport modern hardware needed to support Metal's features? It's dead simple to determine this for yourself, here's how.

Swarm by Foursquare brings back mayorships

Foursquare unveiled Swarm in March of last year to give the location check-in ability of the main iOS app a brand new place of its own. Not all of the features of Foursquare for iOS have made it into the dedicated app, namely mayorships.

Arguably the most popular feature—especially if you're into the check-in game—mayorships are now back in the latest Swarm 2.5 for iPhone update.

You can earn them by checking in more than anyone else, which will unlock a shiny new mayor crown.
