Question of the week: Should Apple develop a dedicated gaming controller?

As we all know, Apple has found itself in the desirable position as one of the leaders in gaming industry. This wasn't something Apple planned to do; as iOS popularity increased, it just sort of fell into its lap.

With that in mind, do you think that it's time for Apple to take gaming more seriously? Further, should Apple develop a dedicated gaming controller and increase its presence in the industry?

Emails show Apple was interested in a clickwheel iPhone

Earlier this year, ex-Apple engineer Tony Fadell mentioned something interesting during an on-stage interview. He said that among the handful of prototype iPhone designs that Apple originally considered, one of them was actually built around the infamous iPod clickwheel.

That prototype came up again yesterday during the Samsung-Apple trial. Samsung brought up an email exchange between Steve Jobs and Jony Ive discussing a Samsung phone with a wheel-like interface, hoping to prove that Apple too found inspiration in its competitors...

How to Use Snapseed to Create Extraordinary iPhone Photography

Welcome back to iDownloadBlog.com's series in iPhoneography. So far we have covered everything from exposure to composition. One thing we haven't addressed are the apps. This has been by design. I wanted to make sure we had a solid foundation in photography before we started exploring the the digital darkroom.

Later in the series we will continue to expand our foundations in photography, but today we jump into the darkroom, and there's no better darkroom than Snapseed. I'm guessing many of you have already begun to explore Snapseed. If not, watch this video for a quick tour...

It looks like the Mars Curiosity rover isn't the only thing landing on Mars this year. Rovio just took the lid off of its next major Angry Birds update, Angry Birds Space: Red Planet.

Earlier this year, Rovio took its popular franchise into outer-space, and within 12 hours it was the number one paid application in the App Store. But can lightning strike again?

As you've probably noticed, Apple and Samsung are locked in a high stakes courtroom battle in northern California right now. Apple believes that Samsung intentionally copied its smartphone and tablet designs, and is seeking more than $2 billion in damages.

It's day 5 in the ongoing patent trial between Apple and Samsung, and Scott Forstall, Apple's SVP of iOS software, is on the witness stand. As you can imagine, his time under oath has been fairly interesting thus far.

If you're still using the first generation iPhone, I have two pieces of news for you: a good, and a bad one.

The bad news is that AT&T will be ending its 2G Edge network by 2017. The good news is that it gives you the opportunity to upgrade to other iPhone models, potentially the iPhone 11 which should hit the shelves sometimes in 2017...

Before the iPhone, Apple considered building…a car?

Apple's high-profile patent trial with Samsung kicked off this week in a northern California courtroom. And in the 5 short days, it's already yielded some pretty interesting information.

We've seen early prototype designs, of both the iPhone and the iPad, and have learned some other previously-secret stuff about the company. And today, we find out about the iCar...

Does Epic Games have an iPhone 5?

Developer Epic Games, the maker of the awesome Infinity Blade series, an elegiac masterpiece that really showcases what iOS gadgets are capable of, may be in possession of one of the very few production units of Apple's highly anticipated handset, the iPhone 5.

A reader pointed us to a page on Epic's website which makes a brief mention of the device. It could be nothing, but it could be everything as well.

If Apple's elite developers are testing their warez against a sixth-generation iPhone, than the official unveiling couldn't be more than a few short weeks away, as previously rumored...

Following a flurry of speculation concerning an allegedly smaller, inexpensive iPad (insert your sandpaper joke here), analysts are running their spreadsheets to determine business logic behind a yet-unreleased $249 device.

One analyst estimates the mini iPad could sell a whopping 40 million units in its first twelve months on the market. For comparison, Apple sold a total of 84.1 million iPads as of March 31, 2012...

Video depicts 0.1mm thinner, more scratch resistance iPhone 5 front panel

Two months ago a video made rounds comparing side-by-side the current iPhone 4S front panel to a 4.07-inch panel allegedly belonging to a sixth-generation iPhone. Another video showing off a partially assembled device scrapped together from the allegedly leaked parts also piqued our interest.

And now, a new clip hits the Interwebs comparing the front panel of the current iPhone 4S and the rumored iPhone 5. Some of the stuff that we gleaned from the seven-minute clip include a centered FaceTime camera and a taller display with a 16:9 aspect ratio, which aligns nicely with the previously leaked schematics. More findings right below...
