Control Unlocker: unlock your iPhone old school style

You probably already saw our preview for Control Unlocker, but just in case you haven't, let me fill you in on what it does. Control Unlocker is a new jailbreak tweak that brings an NES inspired controller to the Lock screen. Users can then use custom input commands to unlock their device.

Yes, it's entirely possible to use the Contra code to unlock your iPhone, though the controller lacks a Start (or Select) button. Have a look at our video walkthrough inside...

BuddyLock: an incredibly detailed Lock screen launcher

Earlier in the year, there was a deluge of Lock screen launcher releases to hit jailbroken iPhones. Off the top of my head, I can probably name about 5 of them that came out all around the same time. Since then, things have died down a bit, but there still appears to be a lot of interest in the category.

BuddyLock is the latest such Lock screen launcher to make its way to Cydia. Although its name sounds a bit on the goofy side, don't let its name fool you; BuddyLock is one of the deepest Lock screen launcher releases that we've ever covered.

Have a look inside as we touch on all of its features in our detailed video synopsis...

New Nexus 7 vs iPad mini comparison [Video]

The new Nexus 7 has touched down in stores, and it's a pretty compelling little device at $229 for the base 16GB Wi-Fi unit. It's much improved over its predecessor in nearly every facet, and will likely become a thorn in Apple's side as time goes on without a significant iPad mini (Retina) refresh.

With that all said, the iPad mini still has a few distinct advantages over Google's latest offering. Its main advantage is readily apparent, as its screen size completely dwarfs the smaller screen of the Nexus 7. Interestingly enough, the bezel on the older iPad mini is still smaller on all four sides when compared to the Nexus 7. Lastly, the iPad mini is still thinner than the Nexus 7. By themselves, all of these advantages may not amount to much in the eyes of consumers, but when compared side by side, they all add up for a pretty intense debate regarding which is superior.

Make no mistake though, in terms of sheer power and screen prowess, this is no competition. After comparing the two, running benchmarks, playing games, etc, it's evident that Apple has a legitimate competitor on its hands when it comes to the low end of the tablet market. Check inside as I compare both the new Nexus 7 and the iPad mini in our hands-on video walkthrough.

‘BMarks Bar – Chrome’ adds a bookmark bar to the Google Chrome app

Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls; it hasn't been too often in the past few months that I've been genuinely overjoyed by a tweak; such an occurrence has been few and far between. But this new tweak, Thankfully, BMarks Bar - Chrome came out of nowhere and it genuinely surprised me with how good it is. Put it this way, if you're a Chrome user on iOS who happens to be jailbroken, stop reading right now, find a dollar, head over to Cydia and buy this thing.

BMarks Bar - Chrome places a true bookmark bar on your Google Chrome app, just under the address bar like it's supposed to be. Why Google has omitted such a feature thus far is anyone's guess, but who cares at this point? We now have such a feature. Take a look at our full video walkthrough inside.

How to add iPad styled popovers to the iPhone

Have you noticed how iOS differs between the iPhone and the iPad when it comes to things like sharing images via the Messages app? On the iPhone, you're greeted with a simple sheet that slides up from the bottom of the screen. On the iPad, you're met with a popover style set of buttons. Both methods allow you to perform the same actions, but each has been designed to suite the screen size of the device in question.

What if you wanted to adopt the iPad's style of popovers on the iPhone? Now you can, with a new jailbreak tweak called Popoveractions. Check past the break for more details via our video walkthrough...

How to run a terminal session via Notification Center

It's neat to see the terminal get lots of love from the jailbreak community this week. We just got the new MobileTerm Backgrounder tweak, and now we have another new tweak related to the terminal — NCTerminal. As you have probably figured out by now, NCTerminal allows you to run a terminal session directly in Notification Center. That being said, I will say that the tweak is a bit on the peculiar side, as you'll see in my full video walkthrough.
