Some of the best ways we keep engaged with our favorite apps is through notifications. Whether it's an in-app notification or a notification pushed to our homescreen, they help us stay in the loop with what's going on at the present time.

Sometimes they can be hard to implement for developers, but luckily, there is now a free tool in order to help create in-app notifications for better engagement...

iPhone photography, dubbed 'iPhoneography', seems to be the new hip thing among iPhone users.

It's much easier to carry your iPhone around to take photos than an expensive DSLR, and with popular apps like Camera+, Instagram, and Camera Bag, you can take equally stunning shots.

Interestingly, a UK college wants to teach its students this new method...

iOS Apps Crashing More Than Android Apps?

iPhone and iPad apps have always been considered to be much more polished than Android apps by most users. Apple's strict style guide and closed App Store create a similar feel among apps, while Google's Android Market is open for all.

In a new report from crash report analytics company Crittercism, the company says that iOS apps crash more than Android apps, despite what you might think. In their report, Crittercism found that iOS apps tend to crash three times more than Android apps. But why?

AT&T Begins Throttling Unlimited Data Users Only After 2GB

AT&T announced in October of 2011 that they would begin throttling data usage for users still on an Unlimited Data Plan. Original iPhone users are the only one who have kept their unlimited plans, while newer customers on AT&T have been stuck using tiered data plans, which were just restructured last month.

In October's announcement, AT&T said they will only throttle the top 5% of data users. AT&T warns users that they will be throttled when they fall under that tier, usually passing more than 10GB of data for the month. However, things didn't seem to go that way for blogger John Cozen who only used 2GB of data before getting the notification. Cozen reached out to AT&T upset, who then responded..

Verizon Shared iPhone and iPad Data Plan Coming Soon?

Many customers have both an iPhone and an iPad 3G that they use on the same network. This requires users to pay for separate data plans, but according to a leaked training manual this could soon change on the nation's largest carrier, Verizon.

According to Engadget, who leaked the flier, users will only have to pay a single $9.99 a month fee for one load of data that can be shared between both the iPhone and iPad. In May of 2011, Verizon's CFO Fran Shammo hinted towards this rolling out, but offered no time frame...

Apple Lists iPhone 4S as “In Stock” on Its Online Store

Since the iPhone 4S became available in October, it has yet to see an "in stock" label on Apple's Online Store. Earlier this month Apple moved to 3-5 days, as supply was still a little tight. Today however, things have changed, and Apple is now listing the iPhone 4S as "in stock" for all sizes and carriers.

Selling 37 million iPhones in Q1 2012, Apple was having trouble keeping up with demand. It's unclear how many of the 37 million were 4S's, but it was obviously a majority...

Apple Accused of Witholding $6.3 Million in Taxes from French iPad Sales

Apple is coming under new accusations today for reportedly witholding payments due from 'copy tax', from iPads sold in France. French publication Les Echos is reporting that Apple is refusing to pay the tax on 64GB iPads sold in 2011, and is now coming under-fire.

Apple reportedly owes a total of €4.74 million ($6.3 million), which comes from the 500,000 iPads sold in France during 2011.

So what is a copy tax exactly?

Will Textbooks for iPad Change Education?

Yesterday, Apple held an event focusing on education at New York City’s Guggenheim Museum to unveil a couple of new products that are supposed to change education. Apple opened up the event with the video below, where teachers explained what is wrong with education and why many students do not get the fullest education offered — or simply do not graduate.

Apple unveiled three new products yesterday: iBooks 2, iBooks Author, and iTunes U apps for the iPhone and iPad. iBooks 2 allows for textbooks publishers to sell their textbooks for $15 a pop, while iBooks Author allows for anyone to create text books simply through a Mac application. Lastly, iTunes U is an iOS app that allows for teachers to customize topics, provide students with office hours, post messages to the class, and give assignments.

With these announcements, Apple is working towards changing education, because really, education is not where it is supposed to be. But then comes the question: is Apple really the company that should be taking this charge, or should someone else? Moreover, will yesterday's announcements make a difference? As someone infinitely familiar with the inter-workings of high school education, I try to breakdown why I do not think Apple is up for the task...

iOS 5 was released last fall with deep Twitter integration throughout the entire operating system. Many speculated that Apple would also add Facebook integration, but the day never came. You may also remember rumors of an Apple and Facebook partnership back before iOS 4 debuted.

This could be changing however, as iMore discovered iOS code referencing Facebook...
