How to Wirelessly Back Up Your iPhone Photos

Depending on how you charge your iPhone you may or may not regularly backup your photos. Having to perform a hard reset could erase priceless pictures if you happen to charge your phone the old fashioned way via wall connector.

That problem is now gone thanks to an article by LifeHacker that shows you how to wirelessly sync your photos. The only catch is that you'll need a jailbroken iPhone, which shouldn't be an issue for most of you...

Target Announces You Can Trade Them Your iPhone for a Gift Card

I'll warn you ahead of time, this is a ridiculous piece of news. The folks over at Target have come up with a plan that will allow you to trade in your iPhone or iPod Touch to receive your very own gift card with the amount you're granted in return.

So how much can you expect to get for your respective iDevice you ask? CNET says supported stores will issue you a card that ranges from "a couple dollars" to $200 in value...

Hardware Fix Coming for the iPhone 4 Antenna in September?

iDB reported about the iPhone 4 arriving in Mexico last week. Today Mac Rumors posted an article claiming an executive from Telcel, the mexican iPhone carrier, says the iPhone 4 will be getting a hardware revision once the free case promotion runs out.

Marco Quatorze comments that the policy of giving away free cases will be implemented the same to the rest of the countries selling the iPhone 4. Following September 30th (the date Steve Jobs said Apple would reevaluate the issue) the hardware would be changed to resolve the antenna discrepancies. A bold assumption to say the least...

Lock Your iPhone Screen in Landscape Mode

Like many people, I was happy with the release of iOS4. It introduced rotation lock, an awesome feature that locks the rotation of your screen in portrait. Unfortunately, this new rotation lock feature is a little less awesome because it only supports portrait mode.

The good news is there's a brand new application in the Cydia Store that changes the default behavior to include landscape support, Landscape Rotation Lock.

Predictions for Tomorrow’s Apple Event

Unless you've been underneath a rock for a few weeks you're aware that Apple will be holding their annual September event this Wednesday. With such an event so close, you can pretty much find a rumor for any wild idea you could think of. We figured here at iDB we'd toss around some ideas and let you add your own.

I'll start with the casualties:

China’s iPhone Carrier is Offering In-Store Jailbreaking

This is definitely going to make uncle Steve angry. TUAW reports that China Unicom is offering to jailbreak their customers iPhones directly from the very store they sell the devices from.

Apparently the staff will gladly hack the apparent iPhone 3GS devices (the iPhone 4 hasn't been released yet), or cut the SIM card down to fit the micro size on those who have opted to buy an iPhone 4 through alternative outlets. Some stores are even going as far as saying that they will show users how to download 3rd party applications. Wow.

Jailbreak App Lets You Use Your iPhone While It’s Syncing With iTunes

The jailbreak community is always exciting. There's always a new application in development soon to be released to an unsuspecting public. Today, Synchronicity takes the throne. It allows you to use your iPhone while it's currently synchronizing with iTunes. I'm not sure why Apple disables us by disallowing usage of devices during a sync. Personally, I think Apple should allow this function by default.

Intel Enters Itself Into The iPhone

In early August iDB reported that Intel was looking at buying chip manufacturer Infineon Technologies. Last night the 1.4 billion dollar acquisition was solidified according to 9 to 5 Mac.

Intel CEO, Paul Otellini, said the following regarding the purchase:

The acquisition of Infineon’s WLS (Wireless Solutions) business strengthens the second pillar of our computing strategy–Internet connectivity–and enables us to offer a portfolio of products that covers the full range of wireless options from Wi-Fi and 3G to WiMax and LTE (4G)...

The iPhone App Store Adds “On The Grid” Category & it Looks Like Advertising

I must say that I have enjoyed the anticipation that has come with waiting to see which category the App Store will add under their featured apps section. This week I was sorely disappointed by the organization of location-based apps entitled "On The Grid".

It should come as no surprise that Facebook tops the list after adding their take on the service via Places. Foursquare and Gowalla are next on the list that only sports a dozen entries...

The Ultimate PartyDock Coming to The iPhone

TUAW recently unveiled a product design by Griffin that could change the way you think about gaming on the iPhone or iPad. The FCC has released the exciting filing that would allow up to 4 people to simultaneously play in an individual setting. Sounds cool, right?

Griffin will send 4 games along with the PartyDock that will will include party, family and casual styles of entertainment. The games will be available in the App Store and would be designed to be ran specifically with aforementioned platform. Head over to the product site for additional info including development.

How to Create Free Ringtones for Your iPhone

You either love custom ringtones or you invariably loathe them. You can put me down in the latter category. Nevertheless there are many who love hearing a portion of their favorite jam when someone calls, or assigning certain songs that fit the personality of a specific contact in their address book. If you fit into the group that loves custom alerts, you're in luck.

Try These Sites If You’re Having Issues With JailbreakMe

I usually leave it up to Sebastien to provide our loyal readers with the jailbreak information but I'll take the reigns this time. PMP Today has posted a couple of alternative sites for those wishing to jailbreak their iPhone after individuals claimed they were having difficulties performing the hack with JailbreakMe.

If you're among those experiencing troubles with the self titled URL, it is recommended that you try using jailbreakme.com/index.html or accessing the Canadian site of jailbreakme.ca to perform the process. If none of those work for you, you can always try what iDB reader Joe suggested by visiting jailbreakme.com/blob.html from your iPhone.
