iOS 4.3.3 Jailbreak Tools Updated to Address iPhone Vibration Issue

The iPhone Dev Team has just pushed out an update to its Redsn0w and PwnageTool jailbreak utilities for iOS 4.3.3. Redsn0w rc16 and PwnageTool 4.3.3.1 address the side vibration/ringer switch issue for iPhone 4 and iPhone 3GS owners. The bug is only present on iOS 4.3.3 jailbroken devices.

The bug fix was found by famous iPhone hacker @i0n1c and he doesn't even have an iPhone. For those of you that have already updated to iOS 4.3.3 and jailbroken your iDevice using redsn0w rc15 or PwnageTool 4.3.3, you can install this fix simply by running redsn0w rc16 over your existing 4.3.3 jailbreak. Just uncheck the “Install Cydia” option and check any other options you want. Simple as that...

Report: Apple Looking for New iPhone Ambient Light Sensor Supplier

According to a new report from DigiTimes, Apple is on the lookout for a new supplier for the iPhone ambient light sensor. For those unaware, the ambient light sensor detects the light in the room and alters the screen brightness accordingly. Apple is allegedly unhappy with the current ambient light sensor supplier and has started to explore other suppliers for future iPhones'.

The report states that Apple is currently in talks with two different Taiwan-based companies: Integrated Memory Logic (iML) and Capella Microsystems. Capella is reported to already have shipped out several of its products to Apple for verification. Capella currently provides over one million ambient-light sensors a month to Taiwanese handset manufacturer, HTC.

It has been less than three days since iOS 4.3.3 was released by Apple and the iPhone Dev Team has already released an untethered jailbreak for the latest iOS firmware.

As we stated earlier this week, for some odd reason Apple still has not patched hacker i0n1c's untethered exploit in iOS 4.3.3. Redsn0w 0.9.6rc15 provides an untethered jailbreak on iOS 4.3.3 for the iPhone 4 (GSM), iPhone 3GS, iPod Touch 4G, iPod Touch 3G, iPad 1, and Apple TV 2G. This jailbreak does not support iPad 2 users.

Apple Did Buy iCloud.com

According to anonymous sources cited by All Things Digital, Apple has indeed purchased the iCloud.com domain.

Earlier this week, GigaOM reported that Apple had allegedly purchased iCloud.com from Xcerion for the sum of $4.5 million. Apple is rumored to be announcing a major revamp to its current MobileMe cloud service at this summer's Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC).

Although All Things D confirms that the purchase was made, its sources declined to confirm the rumored $4.5 million purchase price.

Samsung Counter-Sues Apple with 10 Patent Infringement Claims

On April 16th, Apple filed a trademark infringement suit against Samsung with the U.S. District Court in North California. If you thought Samsung was just going to stand around, you thought wrong.

Apple originally filed a lawsuit against Samsung because it claimed Samsung's Galaxy S Android smartphones and new Galaxy Tab tablet violate Apple's intellectual property rights in regards to hardware design and user interface. Samsung last week returned the favor and counter-sued Apple, claiming that it has infringed 10 of its patents that have to do with "fundamental innovations that increase mobile device reliability, efficiency, and quality, and improve user interface in mobile handsets and other products".

Samsung now filed another lawsuit against Apple in the U.S.

Verizon iPhone Helps Eat into Android OS Market Share, Makes Apple 3rd Largest

While the Verizon iPhone doesn't seem as popular as Apple had expected, it has helped Cupertino in various ways.

According to NPD's quarterly results on U.S smartphone sales, the availability of the iPhone on Verizon Wireless not only bumped Apple to the third largest phone seller in the U.S, but also helped eat into Android's market share for the first time since 2009.

White iPhone 4 is Thicker than Black

Apple's white iPhone 4 officially went on sale yesterday. While Apple claimed that the white model was exactly the same as the black version, it seems there is a slight difference between the two color options.

White iPhone 4 owners are reporting that the new handset is slightly thicker than its black counterpart. Yesterday, Apple CEO Steve Jobs and SVP Phil Schiller opened up regarding the challenges faced when bringing the elusive white iPhone 4 to the market.

Apple Working on Fitness Center App for iPhone

Apple is taking fitness to a whole new level. The folks over at Patently Apple have come across a new patent Apple filed back in October of 2009.

The patent for a Fitness Center app that Apple seems to have been working on for a while now was published today by the U.S Patent & Trademark Office. The Fitness Center app includes various capabilities such as social networking features, giving users the ability to find a workout buddy. The app also seems to include Nike integration, illustrating a list with "The Nike Club Training Club Class."

CDMA iPhone 4 Not as Popular as Apple Expected

It looks like the Verizon iPhone isn't holding up to Apple's expectations. According to a report from DigiTimes, Apple has significantly reduced the production of CDMA/Verizon iPhone 4s in 2011.

DigiTimes reports that Apple has cut down production of the CDMA iPhone 4 from the originally expected 10 million units, down to only 5 million units...

T-Mobile Challenges iPhone Users in Seattle Area, Offers $1000 Prize

Want to win $1000? Well, you can if you live in the Seattle area and your iPhone bandwidth speeds are faster than T-Mobile's new flagship Android smartphone, the Samsung Galaxy S 4G.

T-Mobile is publicly challenging all iPhone owners (Verizon and AT&T) in the Seattle area to a speed test against the T-Mobile Galaxy S 4G. T-Mobile states that if any iPhone user in that area is able to beat the Galaxy S 4G in a speed test, they will reward them with a $1,000 cash prize.
