Next iPhone Rumored to Have 64GB Capacity

As the suspected launch date for the next iPhone draws near, the rumors continue to pile up. Here is another one to add to the pile.

In several memos from Verizon, a rumor leaked of possible capacities for the next iPhone. The memo mentioned 32 and 64GB capacities. The 32GB version would obviously be the same size as the larger of the current models, but the 64 would be new...

How Sensors Could Help Shape the iPhone of the Future

Whenever we turn our phones sideways, the display changes orientation. This is common iPhone knowledge. These sensors track where we are, what direction we're moving in, and even which way we're holding our phone. But is this all they're capable of?

Benedetto Vigna, GM of the MEMS division of STMicroelectronics, recently said that we could expect the production of new types of sensors. Sensors will now not only be able to track location and direction, but also elevation.

Even better, there could possibly be sensors that monitor aspects of the human body. Heart rates, moods, and the like will now be monitored by sensors that could possibly be contained within our phones, or communicate with them...

Explosion Occurs at iPad Factory, Apple and Foxconn Comment

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but it looks like there's been an accident at Apple's manufacturing partner, Foxconn's Chengdu, China factory. At this point details aren't completely clear but it seems the explosion at the factory plant unfortunately caused sixteen injuries and two deaths.

The Chengdu plant opened up last year in an effort to increase production of Apple's iPad tablet. The explosion reportedly occurred at 7pm Chengdu time yesterday. Foxconn states that they are working with security officials to find out exactly what caused the accident. Both Apple and Foxconn have released statements regarding the explosion...

Action Menu Updated to Support iOS 4.3

If you've been holding off updating to iOS 4.3.x because of the lack of support for some of your favorite jailbreak tweaks and apps, I can understand your position. While I love iOS updates that include tons of bug fixes and new features, I usually don't upgrade right away due to compatibly issues with jailbreak apps and tweaks I couldn't live without on my iPhone.

With that said, if one of those jailbreak tweaks include Action Menu by Ryan Petrich, you'll be glad to know it's finally been updated for iOS 4.3+ support...

With the iPhone already available on AT&T, Verizon and being tested on T-Mobile USA currently, Sprint might be getting some iPhone love this year as well.

According to a new Apple job posting, Apple is on the lookout for a "Carrier Engineer" located in the Kansas City, Missouri area to work with carriers on technical issues. Coincidentally, Sprint headquarters is located in the Kansas City suburb of Overland Park, Kansas...

Toshiba to Provide 720p Retina Display for Future iPhone?

Around this time of year, next-generation iPhone rumors are usually coming left and right. According to a new report, Toshiba is building a 4-inch 720p Retina Display for Apple.

If you may recall, late last year Reuters reported that Apple and Toshiba were working together on a plant to make displays for iOS devices. Toshiba had announced that it would build a factory for 100 billion yen (about $1.2 billion) to produce future LCD panels.

Yesterday, Toshiba announced its next generation of mobile displays, which Toshiba will be showing off in LA this week. According to the press release, the mobile displays are sized from 3.3 inches to 4 inches, with resolutions from Wide VGA (480-by-864) to HD (720-by-1280).

Customize Your Emails With Rich Text for Mail

Another day, another reason to jailbreak your iPhone and customize it to the fullest. The latest jailbreak tweak is called Rich Text for Mail by well-known iOS developer Ryan Petrich (@rpetrich).

Rich Text for Mail enables you to compose and reply to emails using custom fonts, colors and styles. That includes adding format, bold, italic, strikethrough, underline and image items to Action Menu. The app works in conjunction with Action Menu, so there are no additional buttons or apps added. Best of all, it adds all these customization tools to the stock iPhone Mail app...

Next-Generation iPhone to Feature a Redesigned Camera Flash?

Following yesterday's news regarding the leaked iPhone 5/iPhone 4S components, comes additional "leaked" parts for the next-generation iPhone.

The latest leak comes courtesy of the folks over at Apple.pro, who have had a good track record with Apple leaks in the past. This time around, Apple.pro seems to have gotten their hands on the next-generation iPhone camera components which seem to have received a notable redesign from the iPhone 4.

Samurai Girl for the iPhone Will Cut You a New One

However her father was killed by a robot controlled by a character named Delta-M who was looking to take the sword away from him. The game will begin when she wakes up and discovers that she is now the Guardian of Sakura. And through her adventures she will slowly regain her memory and discovers that she must kill Delta-M before he causes more death and destruction...

Has your Battery Life Improved in iOS 4.3.3?

Ever since Apple released iOS 4.3, many iPhone users have been reporting a noticeable decrease in battery life from iOS 4.2.1. While further releases tend to help battery life a little bit, users state that their iPhone battery life still doesn't last as long as it did on iOS 4.2.1 and earlier.

Apple released iOS 4.3.3 earlier this week, and in addition to rectifying the infamous location tracking bug, the update was also supposed to bring battery life improvements. We conducted a similar poll a few days after the release of iOS 4.3.1, and the poll results still showed that iOS 4.3.1 battery life had not improved.

Cydia Now Showing iOS 4.3.3 SHSH Blobs

I've seen countless complaints in the comments regarding saved SHSH blobs using TinyUmbrella not showing up in Cydia. Well, I can finally expect to see those complaints put to a rest (at least until Apple rolls out another iOS update) as Cydia now shows all saved iOS SHSH blobs up to the latest iOS 4.3.3.

If you've launched Cydia today, you'll notice that if you previously saved your SHSH blobs for iOS 4.3.1, iOS 4.3.2, and iOS 4.3.3 they'll now appear in the top banner on the Cydia homepage on your iDevice.

Amazon Cloud Player Now Works on the iPhone

According to a report from TechCrunch, Amazon's Cloud Player has magically started working on the iPhone and other iOS devices. The service, which was initially available to only PC and Android users, seems to have gained iOS support.

When you visit the Amazon Cloud Player webpage, the website will inform you that your device is not supported, but after ignoring the message, all features seem to be working flawlessly.
