Access iOS 5’s Notification Center from your Lock Screen with Bulletin

One of my favorite features about IntelliscreenX is the fact that you can access your notification center from your lock screen. I don't use the popular tweak anymore, it was too much for me. And that's really the only element I miss.

Since I dropped Intelliscreenx, I've been looking for a developer to come up with a standalone jailbreak tweak to enable lock screen notification center access. And finally, it's here. Introducing Bulletin...

Facebook hires former Apple marketing executive

It looks like Facebook is looking to beef up its advertising game, as reports are coming in that the social network has recently hired a former Apple marketing executive.

Rebecca Van Dyck, who worked on a number of high profile projects at Apple, including its iPhone, iPad, and iPod lines, is now Facebook's head of global marketing...

Forget iPhoto, save all of your Photo Stream photos to a folder on OS X

One of my favorite components of iCloud is Photo Stream. I love having instant access to all of my photos on both my iPhone and iPad. Having instant access to my photos on my laptop is awesome too, but there is one major caveat.

You see, to access your Photo Stream photos on your Mac computer, you have to go through iPhoto — which I hate. It takes forever to load and the UI is terrible. Luckily, I've just come across a software-free way to access my Photo Stream photos on my computer...

New SIM interposer promises to unlock iPhone 4/4S on a number of basebands

Unlocking is not nearly as important to iPhone users as it once was. Over the last couple of years, Apple has opened up its popular handset to hundreds of new carriers, and has even started selling its own factory unlocked models.

But if you don't want to spend $650 buying the unlocked version of Apple's new iPhone 4S, you have a few other options. One, you could wait for the iPhone Dev team to release its unlock for the new handset. Or you can pre-order one of these...

Apple sues Motorola Mobility in a US court over Qualcomm licenses

The latest turn in Apple's ongoing patent war with Android manufacturing partners has been fairly disappointing for the iPhone-maker. A judge recently found Apple to be infringing on one of Motorola's wireless patents, causing the company to remove some of its products from its German online store.

Today, Reuters is reporting that Apple has launched a counter-attack, filing a lawsuit against Motorola in a US court. And the outcome of this trial has the power to turn the tide...

Could AT&T’s new LTE micro SIM cards be for upcoming iPad/iPhone?

Among the rumors we've heard regarding Apple's next-generation tablet, LTE compatibility has come up a number of times. And last month, Bloomberg seemed pretty confident when it reported that the iPad 3 would feature the 4G technology.

Now a new report from PhoneArena adds some weight to the argument, as the site has just learned that AT&T is about to receive a whole new batch of LTE-capable micro SIM cards. Could these be for next-generation iPads and iPhones?

Guess which smartphone retains its value better than any other handset

The long term value of a product is largely determined by its resale value. That's why so many people will ask what the resale value of a car is before purchasing it.

Obviously it's not as big of a factor when looking for a new smartphone (unless you're paying full retail), but it's still a concern. And according to a recent report from priceonomics, no other handset retains its value better than Apple's iPhone...

Why the iPad 3 rumored Retina Display is such a big deal

At this point, it seems like a Retina display in the iPad 3 is a pretty safe bet. After two years, and two iterations, of the same screen resolution, we fully expect Apple's next tablet to feature a much sharper display.

Much of the tech world seems to be convinced that that display will be of Retina quality — which is a huge deal. And to demonstrate how huge, designer Chris Koerner put together a rather interesting infographic...

Apple employee says iPad 3 screen is “truly amazing”

Earlier today we heard a report from AllThingsD claiming that Apple's anticipated iPad 3 announcement is just a few weeks away. The site believes that we could see Apple unveil its next-generation tablet as early as the first week in March.

Now the New York Times is weighing in on the slate, claiming that it has also learned details about the next iPad. And according to its sources, the tablet's [anticipated] Retina display looks "truly amazing..."

Customize your iDevice’s Slide to Unlock bar with SlideToMod

There's certainly no shortage of jailbreak tweaks that allow you to customize your device's slide to unlock bar. There's Springtomize 2 and SliderEnhancer to name a few.

As you've probably already guessed, we have another one to add to the pile today. Like the aforementioned utilities, SlideToMod is a new tweak for iOS 5 that allows you to customize the text in your device's slide to unlock bar...

TweetLine: use Siri to pull up tweets from your Twitter timeline

When iOS 5 launched last Fall, we figured that the Notification Center would become the new hot bed for jailbreak tweaks. But it seems like Siri has also become a popular choice among developers.

The latest package to surface in Cydia that adds functionality to the digital assistant is TweetLine. The tweak allows you to use Siri to call up the 5 most recent tweets from your Twitter timeline...

More evidence that iPad 3 production is in full swing

It seems like it's been raining iPad 3 rumors over the past couple of days. Yesterday we heard that the upcoming tablet may not include the quad-core processor we've been anticipating. And we also saw a purported image of the slate's backing.

Then last night, both 9to5Mac and Apple.pro posted photos of what they claim to be next-generation iPad components. The pictures show both the front and the back of the tablet's shell, as well as what appears to be Smart Cover magnets...
