Roundup of initial iPad Air and Retina iPad mini impressions

Apple introduced two new tablets this morning at a media event in San Francisco: the iPad Air and the iPad mini with Retina display. Both tablets got performance boosts thanks to the A7 64-bit processor, among other changes.

Apple updates Smart Covers and Cases for new iPads

Although there wasn't any mention of the rumored Surface-like keyboard cover at today's iPad event, Apple did announce updates for its current line of cases that will launch alongside the two new tablets.

T-Mobile to carry cellular models of new iPads with free 200MB plan

Wow, just when you thought T-Mobile couldn't get any crazier, it goes and does something like this. As CEO John Leger hinted last week, the [un-]carrier has finally landed Apple's iPad, but there's a big twist.

Apparently, T-Mobile will be offering an entry-level data package with 200 MB free of charge alongside the tablet. And of course, higher-limit packages will be available too, starting at $30/month for 2.5 GB...

Apple introduces updated iLife and iWork apps

According to data from market research firm Counterpoint Research, Apple was the top US smartphone seller in September. The company overtook the spot from Samsung, who had been #1 in the country since May.

New report claims Apple launching 55″ and 65″ 4K TV sets in 2014

Apple may not be ready to introduce its TV set at today's iPad event, but the project does appear to be nearing completion. This according to comments made by Advanced Research's Masahiko Ishino, in a recent interview with Bloomberg.

Citing anonymous sources, the Tokyo-based analyst tells the news outlet that the Cupertino company is preparing to begin selling ultra-high definition televisions next year. The TV will come in 55" and 65" flavors, with a frameless design...

Owl City founder Adam Young revealed as creator of iOS 7 sounds

You know those cool new alert sounds in iOS 7? Well as it turns out, a number of them were likely created by Owl City founder Adam Young. Owl City, as you may know, is an American electronica project responsible for several hit records.

Young confirmed last night that he was behind at least some of the new sounds in this year's iOS update, adding 'Sounds for iOS 7' to his discography on his website. He's since removed the entry, but we've posted a snapshot of it after the fold...
