Apple tweaks Eddy Cue’s job title as it emphasizes leadership in Services

Eddy Cue has been with Apple for years now. He’s had a growing presence within the company for quite some time as well, working in an executive leadership role and heading up a variety of different efforts. He’s been billed as the company’s Senior Vice President of Internet Software for several years now, but times –and titles– are changing.

As noted by 9to5Mac today, Apple has tweaked Cue’s title within the company today. The change is present on Apple’s leadership website, revealing that Cue is now the company’s “Senior Vice President of Services.” That may be dropping a word from the description, but it does indicate the company’s emphasis on Cue’s overall leadership across a variety of different services.

What’s more, Apple has made some changes to the official description of Cue’s overall job description. The changes here are just as subtle, overall, but, again, it’s all about bringing attention to Cue’s leadership across the Services department. One of the company’s most lucrative to date, as it continues to set all-time high records each quarter.

As noted in the original report, here’s the original description of Cue’s job:

Eddy oversees Apple’s industry-leading content stores, including the iTunes Store and Apple Music, as well as Apple Pay, Maps, Search Ads, Apple’s innovative iCloud services, and Apple’s productivity and creativity apps. Eddy also leads the newly created team responsible for developing all aspects of Apple’s worldwide video programming. Eddy’s team has an excellent track record of building and strengthening online services to meet and exceed the high expectations of Apple’s customers.

And here’s the new job description, following today’s changes:

Eddy oversees the full range of Apple’s services including Apple Music, Apple News, Apple Podcasts, the Apple TV app, and Apple TV+, as well as Apple Pay, Apple Card, Maps, Search Ads, Apple’s iCloud services, and Apple’s productivity and creativity apps. Eddy’s team has an excellent track record of building and strengthening world-class services that meet and exceed the high expectations of Apple’s customers, and offer creators and storytellers the opportunity to bring their creative visions to people around the world.

Cue is one of the company’s leaders, and this change on Apple’s website aims to reflect that in a more direct approach.
