Arcush, Brisk, Infinity Shortcuts, and other apps to check out this weekend

It’s the weekend folks! That means another work week is in the books, and it’s time for another edition of our Apps of the Week roundup. This week we have some awesome picks for you including a well-designed daily planner, a cold plunge companion, and a library for Shortcuts. And as always, we’ve selected a fun new game for you to check out.

Arcush – Daily Planner

You’d be forgiven for scrolling past this excerpt, while scoffing to yourself, “yeah we really needed another calendar app.” After all, DO we really need another calendar app? My stance on this has always been: the best app for you is the one that you will use, and for the folks out there not currently using a calendar app, or using one begrudgingly, I submit to you Arcush as an alternative. It doesn’t have a groundbreaking new feature or approach, but it is really well designed and easy to use. Features include an Inbox for storing ideas and tasks that have yet to be scheduled, color-coding for organization, time blocking to visual your daily activities, and much more. This won’t be the first calendar app you try, but perhaps it could be your last? Hey wow I’m actually going to trademark that last line. That’s fire.

Brisk: Cold Plunge Tracker

Grab the elk meat and kettlebells, and meet me at the cold plunge tub in 30 minutes. That’s right, there is finally an app dedicated to tracking your daily dips in ice water. It’s called Brisk, and it’s essentially a simple timing app with a fresh coat of west coast bro paint and a bunch of cold plunge-centric features. This includes ‘chill modes’ with relaxing audio and images, ‘rad health stats’ to track your plunging journey, and even information on the health benefits and different types of tubs for first-time plungers. Is this app going to win the App of the Year award? Probably not. But is it creative, fun, and potentially useful? Absolutely.

Infinity Shortcuts for Action Button

Ok, as someone who only recently got into using Shortcuts, this app is super interesting. It’s called Infinity Shortcuts, and it promises to help supercharge your iPhone with 100+ shortcuts and widgets. These shortcuts come from a wide range of categories including AI, productivity, and entertainment, and new ones are added regularly. The stock Shortcuts app is essentially a blank canvas, capable of wondrous things, but only for those who know how to use it. This app, Infinity Shortcuts, helps unlock some of that potential by giving you the ability to use some handy pre-made shortcuts, or the inspo to create your own. Yes I said ‘inspo,’ and while I’m not proud of it, I think it fits. Anyway, if you’re interested at all in Shortcuts, or getting more out of your iPhone, you should probably check out this app!

Grift: Scam Tycoon

Whew! I’m not sure what I was thinking picking this game. It’s just so weird and unique, I went for it. Grift: Scam Tycoon is exactly what it sounds like: a simulation game where you build a scamming empire. You play as Henry Horns, a goat who’s scamming people on social media while trying to track down his nemesis, Gwendolyn Goat. Dress up bots and scam your way to the top by unlocking new conversations and new ways to interact with your targets. I’m laughing-crying trying to imagine how someone even comes up with a game like this. Can you imagine pitching this to someone? Or worse, a room full of people? “You see, there’s this goat that likes to scam people on Twitter, right?” Anyway, the art looks really cool, and like I said it gets big bonus points for being so unique, so I don’t know, check it out this weekend if you want.
