The Microsoft Copilot app launches on the iPhone and iPad

Microsoft Copilot brings the company’s AI chatbot to the iPhone and iPad, and it works similarly to OpenAI’s official ChatGPT iOS app.

Microsoft Copilot is now available in the App Store as a free download optimized for the iPhone and iPad. Microsoft didn’t say whether a Mac version is in the works.

The AI chatbot can perform tasks like drafting emails, composing stories or scripts, summarizing complex texts, translating multilingual content, proofreading articles, creating personalized travel itineraries, writing and updating job resumes, etc.

When using the app as a logged-in user, your sessions will be remembered so that Copilot can deliver more personalized answers based on your search history.

When asking questions, Copilot will provide references to pages where the answers came from so you can verify the answer if you need to. Microsoft Copilot includes the latest DALL.E 3 model from OpenAI, allowing you to create images through text prompts like “Create an image of a cute happy dog singing with a microphone.”

With the right prompt, AI can generate exciting art styles, custom backgrounds, book illustrations, and logo designs. It can even visualize film and video storyboards.

GPT-4 without a subscription

Another cool thing about Microsoft Copilot for iOS and iPadOS is the free use of the latest GPT-4 large language model from OpenAI.

Typically, GPT-4 requires a subscription, but Microsoft has hammered a deal with OpenAI to permit its users to access GPT-4 in Copilot without paying a dime. In comparison, the free version of ChatGPT uses GPT-3.5.

Copilot continues to be accessible in Microsoft Edge, Bing, Skype and on the web.
