  • New features to aid live concert discovery on Apple Music and Apple Maps began rolling out on May 16, 2023 on the iPhone, iPad and Mac.
  • A new section, titled “Set List,” is available in Apple Music’s Browse tab along with artists’ tour dates. On Apple Maps, the best venues to experience live music are showcased in more than 40 new city guides.
  • These new features are integrated with Shazam’s existing concert discovery module. You can’t actually purchase concert tickets in Maps and Music. For that, Apple will redirect you to Ticketmaster.

New concert discovery features in Apple Music and Maps

“Today, Apple Music expanded its curation efforts into live shows, introducing new concert discovery features on Apple Maps and Apple Music,” said Tim Cook.

“Together, these new features celebrate the joy of live music and give fans and artists more ways to connect,” he was quoted as saying in the Apple Newsroom.

The Music app on your iPhone, iPad or Mac has a new Set Lists section under the Browse tab. As the title suggests, this is where you’ll find all the info pertaining to live concerts, including tour dates, set lists, production info, etc.

You can also listen to set lists, but you’ll need an Apple Music subscription for that.

“For the first time on the app, fans will also be able to browse artists’ upcoming shows in their area by launching Shazam’s concert discovery module,” Apple notes.

Set Lists on Apple Music are available at apple.co/setlists.

Show and concert info on Shazam

A March 2022 update to Apple-owned Shazam brought the ability to browse live shows and concert information, find tickets on sale and so forth, with underlying data supplied by recommendation and artist discovery platform Bandsintown. The following concert and tour information is available on Shazam’s artist pages:

  • Basic concert information
  • Tickets on sale for upcoming shows nearby
  • Dates, times and locations of forthcoming live shows
  • Additional tour information

To get those details, open an artist page on Shazam and touch any listed concert. You can also add events to your calendar about upcoming shows.

The Maps app on your iPhone, iPad and Mac is rolling out 40 Apple Music guides as part of the app’s existing City Guides feature.

Apple’s editors curate featured venues spanning over ten cities, including places like the Viennese symphony halls and cutting-edge techno clubs in Brooklyn and Tokyo. To see upcoming shows for a venue, use Shazam’s concert discovery module.

Available at apple.co/MusicVenues, music guides on Maps may take a few days or weeks to roll out to all users, so check back later if you don’t have them yet.

Featured cities include Chicago, Detroit, Los Angeles, Nashville, New York City and San Francisco in North America; Berlin, London, Paris and Vienna in Europe; Tokyo, Melbourne and Sydney in the Asia-Pacific region; and Mexico City in Latin America.
