Apple Podcasts has gained new charts highlighting the top subscriber shows and paid channels to help you find content worth your money.
- What’s happening? Apple’s podcasting service has gained two new charts in four countries highlighting the top 100 subscriber shows and channels.
- Why care? If listening to podcasts is part of your daily routine, these charts will help you find the top paid shows that could be worth your money.
- What to do? Update the Podcasts app and install the latest software updates on your devices. The charts can be found underneath the Browse tab in the most recent version of the Podcasts app.
New Apple Podcasts for the top paid shows and channels
Apple added paid shows to its podcasting service in June 2021 with the hope of helping creators monetize their content and users support their favorite podcasters. To make it easier to find and subscribe to the top paid shows, Apple has introduced two charts, titled Top Subscriber Shows and Top Subscriber Channels.
At the time of writing, the charts highlighted some of the well-known shows and creators, including Amazon’s Wondery and its podcasts such as “Morbid” and “SmartLess,“ Luminary’s “Black Star’s No Fear of Time” and Pushkin’s “Malcolm Gladwell’s Go and See”. Apple’s Podcasts for Creators webpage notes these charts are initially available on Apple Podcasts in four countries: the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada and Australia. Users in those countries must be using iOS 15.6, iPadOS 15.6 and macOS Monterey 12.5 or later on their devices to access the charts.
Apple says the Apple Podcasts charts are refreshed several times daily.
The top subscriber shows on Apple Podcasts
Thousands of shows offer premium benefits through Apple Podcasts Subscriptions. Top Subscriber Shows helps listeners discover these podcasts.
Listeners can browse the top 100 shows included within a subscription. These include shows from all categories that offer exclusive content, early access to new episodes, bonus episodes, ad-free listening, and more premium experiences;
The top subscriber channels on Apple Podcasts
“Listeners can also discover great premium experiences through groups of shows called channels,” Apple notes. This chart provides a list of the top 100 paid channels and two or more shows. “The more that listeners engage with shows and episodes included within a subscription channel, the higher it ranks on this chart.”
Viewing the top paid Apple Podcasts shows and channels
Be sure that your devices are running the latest software. If needed, run Software Update to check for the latest updates. With iOS 16, iPadOS 16 and macOS Monterey 12.5 installed, open the Apple Podcasts app on your iPhone, iPad or Mac.
You can find the new charts by clicking the app’s Browse tab. Alternatively, click the Charts page. The new subscriber charts can also be accessed by following the link podcasts.apple.com/browse/top-charts.
