MacBook Air with M2 release date hinted at in a review for a new Android phone

At some point in the near future, Apple is going to launch a brand new, redesigned MacBook Air equipped with the M2 processor. The company already confirmed the new laptop will launch sometime in July, but we’re just waiting to actually find out when. And we may have a hint from the unlikeliest of places as to when we can expect to pre-order the upcoming device.

The new MacBook Air colors

If you’ll recall, back in June it was reported that Apple was planning to launch the new MacBook Air with M2 on Friday, July 15. Which means pre-orders would start the previous Friday, on July 8. That has yet to be confirmed by Apple to this point, but Marques Brownlee (MKBHD) may have given us confirmation anyway.

As noted by some folks on Twitter (via 9to5Mac), in his latest review –which happens to be for a new Android phone– we appear to get confirmation that Apple’s going to launch the new, redesigned MacBook Air for pre-orders this week. Specifically, as you can see from the image above, there’s an “Apple MBA briefing” slotted in Brownlee’s calendar. Which we can see thanks to the calendar widget he’s scrolling through in the review.

On top of that, as noted by 9to5Mac, there is also “MacBook Air Embargo” event listed in the calendar app for Thursday, July 14. That would be one day before in-store availability of the new laptop went live.

Here’s the review for the new ROG Phone 6 Pro, where you can see the moments described above:

That’s certainly an interesting way to find out a potential launch date for one of Apple’s most anticipated devices. Especially considering it’s for an Android smartphone. Which does make it a little funny, all things considered. Or maybe MKBHD is just trolling all of us.

We don’t have long to wait to find out!
