Check out these five easy ways to download Twitter videos on iPhone and iPad for offline playback, with or without a premium subscription.
1. Use the built-in download option in the X app
Ease of use: 10/10
If you’ve subscribed to X Premium (earlier called Twitter Blue), you get the native option to save (most) videos for offline viewing. Earlier, the X app saved videos in its Offline section, but now it adds them directly to the iOS Photos app, which is infinitely better.
1) Open the X app, find a video post, and tap it.
2) Tap the three dots icon at the top and select Download video. If you don’t see the three-dot icon, it likely means the uploader hasn’t allowed their video to be downloaded.
3) Now, wait for the app to download your video (a thin blue progress bar appears at the bottom of the app). Then, open the iPhone or iPad Photos app to see the downloaded video.
Extra info: X is also allowing (some) users to download videos sent via direct message. All you need to do is touch and hold the video and then tap Download video.

2. Use an iOS shortcut to save Twitter videos
Ease of use: 9/10
If you’re someone who makes a lot of memes, does video editing, and X is your primary source of clips, then you’ll like this handy iOS shortcut by Saif Al Falah to quickly download Twitter videos offline and save them to the iPhone Photos app.
1) Visit tvdl.app and use your email address to add the TVDL 4.1.0 shortcut to your iPhone or iPad.
2) Open the X app and find the post with the video that you want to download.
3) Tap the share button, followed by Copy link (you won’t have to do this if your iPhone is running an older version of iOS).
4) Tap the share button again, followed by Share via, and select TVDL 4.1.0 from the iOS Share Sheet.
4) Allow the shortcut some permissions, go through some popups asking you to consider buying a pro subscription, select the desired video quality, and you’re done! The video is downloaded from X and saved to your iPhone’s Photos app.
3. Use the Tweeload app
Ease of use: 9/10
1) Download the Tweeload app for free from the iPhone App Store.
2) Open the X app, go to the post that has the video you want to download, tap the share icon, and then Copy Link.
3) Open the Tweeload app, paste the video link from your iPhone’s clipboard, and hit Find.
4) Since this is the first time you’re using the app, tap the Collect button, and allow the app to save to your Photos app.
5) Now, open the Photos app, and you’ll find the video there. In the future, just pasting the X post link and tapping Find should save the video to the Photos app.
4. Use Safari and picture in picture
Ease of use: 6.5/10
1) Copy the X post link that has a video.
2) Visit Twitter Video Downloader or TW Saver in Safari and paste the Tweet link here.
3) Tap Download.
4) Scroll down and select Download Video.
5) The video will start playing. Tap the screen and then tap the Picture-in-Picture button.
6) Tap the share icon and select Save to Files > choose a location > Save.
7) Now, open the Files app > Browse and go to the folder where you saved the video. From here, you can tap the video and play it or tap the share button and send it via other apps. To transfer the video to the Camera Roll, tap Save Video on the iOS Share Sheet.
5. Use a third-party iOS file manager app
Ease of use: 6.5/10
In the above methods, we used a Twitter video downloader website in Safari to download and save the clip. You can also use the same website in file manager apps like Documents. If you’re someone who downloads a lot of Twitter videos and wants to keep them in a separate app, follow these steps.
1) Get the Documents app from the App Store, open it, and finish the basic setup.
2) Open the X app and copy the post link that has a video.
3) Come back to the Documents app and tap Browser.
4) Search for Twitter Video Downloader and choose the twittervideodownloader.com result.
5) Paste the Tweet link here and tap Download > Download Video.
6) Rename the file if you like and tap Done. The Twitter video will start downloading. You can tap the arrow button to see it.
To share it, tap the folder icon from the bottom left to return to the main screen. From here, tap Downloads to see and share the video clip.
