Watch the official trailer for the Apple TV+ thriller series ‘Shining Girls’ ahead of its April 29 premiere date

Apple TV+ has a lot of different content to watch these days. It’s still not as extensive a library as, say, Disney+ or Netflix, but there’s definitely something to watch. Like the Best Picture Oscar winner CODA, for instance. Or, of course, Ted Lasso. But, if you prefer something that falls more into the “thriller” category and you’ve already made your way through Truth Be Told, this new series starring Elisabeth Moss (The Invisible Man) might be what you’re looking for.

The new show is called Shining Girls, and it was first confirmed in the summer of 2020. It’s been a bit of a wait, to be sure, but that’s finally coming to an end soon. The first three episodes of the eight episode first season will start streaming on Friday, April 29, 2022. After that, new episodes will land every subsequent Friday until the first season wraps up.

Here’s how Apple describes the upcoming thriller:

Based on Lauren Beukes’ best-selling novel, Shining Girls follows Kirby Mazrachi (Moss) as a Chicago newspaper archivist whose journalistic ambitions were put on hold after enduring a traumatic assault.Years after a brutal attack left her in a constantly shifting reality, Kirby Mazrachi learns that a recent murder is linked to her assault. She teams with veteran reporter Dan Velazquez (played by Wagner Moura) to understand her ever-changing present—and confront her past.

As mentioned above, the series will star Moss in the lead role, with Moura (Narcos) set to co-star. Along with those two, Jamie Bell (Rocketman), Phillipa Soo (Tick, Tick… Boom!), and Amy Brenneman (Heat) are also on the cast list.

The first two episodes will be directed by Michelle MacLaren (Breaking Bad), with Moss serving as an executive producer on the project. The whole thing is produced by Leonardo DiCaprio’s Appian Way (with DiCaprio also listed as an executive producer). Silka Luisa is showrunner on the series, and she also adapted the project for TV.

Shining Girls starts streaming April 29, 2022. Are you planning to check it out?
