TikTok video length extended to three minutes for everyone

Following a limited test in December 2020 with some of the top creators on TikTok, three-minute videos are now a reality and have begun to roll out to all TikTok customers globally.

According to the announcement on the TikTok website, this should help creators avoid splitting longer videos into one-minute segments, chained and shared together as a multi-part story.

Creators are already well-versed in weaving multi-part stories together on TikTok (we all know the phrase, ‘like and follow for part 3’) but we often hear from creators that they’d love just a little more time to bring their cooking demos, elaborate beauty tutorials, educational lesson plans, and comedic sketches to life with TikTok’s creative tools.

Keep in mind that this is a staggered release.

When can I start posting longer TikToks?

In other words, the ability to post videos up to three minutes long on TikTok is being rolled out in stages, with everyone expected to get the feature over the coming weeks. “Once ready, you’ll get a notification that longer videos are now part of your creative toolbox,” notes TikTok.

How to change your TikTok user name and display name

This new TikTok feature, the company reasons, will pave the way for even richer storytelling and entertainment on the platform. Some people may have already seen longer TikToks from some of the creators that were included in the test, especially in categories like cooking.
