Stephen King talks about his love for ‘Lisey’s Story’ ahead of June 4 premiere on Apple TV+

Many fans of Stephen King will know that he loves his tale Lisey’s Story. It’s one of the most personal stories he’s ever written, and now he’s adapting it for the small screen.

Ahead of its June 4 premiere on Apple TV+, Stephen King sat down in front of the camera to talk about the story. He talks, albeit briefly as the video is less than three minutes in length, about how the story is important to him as a person and a writer, and how events in his own life helped shape that story. We also get to hear from producer J.J. Abrams (Super 8), director Pablo Larraín (Ema), and Clive Owen (Children of Men).

Today, the official Apple TV YouTube channel uploaded a video highlighting some brief interviews with the writer of Lisey’s Story, King, and some of the cast and crew. It’s not a long video by any means, but we do get to see plenty of footage from the upcoming series as well. This is one of the more interesting projects for Apple TV+ to date, at least for King fans, because he’s typically not one to dive into adaptions of his work. But with this one, he took a more hands-on approach.

Here’s how Apple describes the new video:

Take a deeper look into Lisey’s Story — the new Apple TV+ series based on the novel by Stephen King. Explore King’s process of adapting the story to the screen and hear from director Pablo Larraín, producer J.J. Abrams and the show’s cast on their experience working with the legendary author.

This isn’t the first time that King has spoken about the Apple TV+ series adaptation for his novel. Earlier this year, the prolific writer spoke at length about the process of adapting the story for the small screen, and just how important it is to him as a writer and a husband. It’s also a story about those closest to the writer, the one who helps them through the process — and the person who might be overshadowed.

King said at the time:

One thing I wanted to say was that with a person who is famous, it can be so bright that they have a tendency to eclipse the people who stand the closest them,” King said. “But Tabby is responsible for so much of what I have done, and she’s been so supportive of me over the years. It isn’t a love letter to her, because that would be a little bit embarrassing for me, and it would be horribly embarrassing for her. But certainly everything that I know in all my experience in marriage has been positive. And that’s in there.

As far as the story is concerned, here’s how Apple describes the series:

Based on the best-selling novel by Stephen King, and adapted by the author himself, ‘Lisey’s Story’ is a deeply personal thriller that follows Lisey Landon (played by Moore) two years after the death of her husband, famous novelist Scott Landon (played by Clive Owen). A series of unsettling events causes Lisey to face memories of her marriage to Scott that she has deliberately blocked out of her mind.

Lisey’s Story will star Julianne Moore (Children of Men) in the lead role, with Owen handling the role of Scott Landon, the writer. Meanwhile, the series also stars Dane DeHaan (Chronicle), Jennifer Jason Leigh (Annihilation), and Ron Cephas Jones (This Is Us).
