Apple continues to move right along with its latest beta, preparing developers for the next version of its mobile operating systems.
On Tuesday, Apple seeded the second beta of iOS and iPadOS 13.6 to developers. If this doesn’t seem right at first glance, it’s because Apple has decided to change the version number ahead of its official launch once again. Apple did the same thing when it switched to iOS 13.5 earlier this year. Still, despite the change in version number, it’s likely this is a minor update in the grand scheme of things, focusing on behind-the-scenes tweaks and general improvements. The first developer beta of iOS and iPadOS 13.5.5 did not include any major forward facing features for the end user, and it’s likely that this  beta will not, either.
However, if there are any new features discovered in the pre-release software, we will update this post accordingly.
Registered developers can download and install the first beta of iOS and iPadOS 13.6 right now from the official Apple Developer Center. The required developer profile must be installed to update to the latest beta.
Apple released iOS 13.5 not too long ago. That software brought with it a major new addition to the platform: Exposure Notification that was designed in partnership with Google in an effort to stop the spread of the coronavirus and COVID-19, the disease it causes. And, last week, the company released iOS 13.5.1 to the public with important security fixes, and was designed to negatively impact the jailbreak community and the Unc0ver jailbreak.
In addition to the second betas of iOS 13.6 and iPadOS 13.6, Apple also seeded the second betas of macOS Catalina 10.15.6, and tvOS 13.4.8 to developers as well. To update the former, registered developers can download the software from the official Apple Developer portal, and also use the System Preferences software update utility. Meanwhile, developers can update registered Apple TV set-top boxes with the latest prerelease software with the appropriate Xcode profile.
The latest beta is available now for developers. Apple is likely going to seed a corresponding public beta to public beta testers soon.
What’s new in iOS 13.6
- Apple has included an additional toggle option for iOS users, making it easier to manage automatic downloads and installations of future software updates.
- The Health app now includes a new “Symptoms” section, letting users quickly take tabs of the symptoms they are showing with any ongoing illnesses.
