Apple’s original podcasts may promote its original Apple TV+ content

The strength of Apple TV+ is its original content, and it sounds like Apple may be working on yet another way to promote that material in the future.

According to a report from Bloomberg, Apple is going to use its original podcasts to promote its original series, films, and documentaries available on Apple TV+. The report indicates that, dating back to the summer of last year, Apple was asking podcast producers to pitch ideas for new podcasts directly related to Apple TV+ content. At this point, it sounds like Apple has reached out again to some producers to bring those podcasts to listeners.

If this kind of sounds familiar, it’s because we heard about Apple’s plans to develop original podcasts in the summer of last year, which would seem to line up with this latest report. At the time of that original report, though, the details regarding Apple’s plans were still in the dark, so it’s unknown if these two stories are related.

That means we could still see other podcasts focused on other topics produced directly by Apple at some point in the future, too. It might not all be related to Apple TV+ content.

However, promoting Apple TV+ shows and films with podcasts is not a bad idea. What might really help, though, is just having more stuff to watch on the streaming service. Of course, Apple did just announce a plethora of launch dates for new shows, films, and documentaries, so the service will have more to watch soon enough.

What do you think? Should Apple launch original podcasts to promote original Apple TV+ content?
