Jennifer Aniston wins ‘Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor’ in ‘The Morning Show’ from SAG Awards

Before the end of 2019, the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards revealed its nominations for several categories, revealing which actors and actresses across film and TV showcased the best performances last year.

The Morning Show was nominated in several categories by the SAG Awards, including “Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Drama Series” and “Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Drama Series”. The former saw Jennifer Aniston, who plays Alex Levy in the Apple TV+ original series The Morning Show. (The latter saw Billy Crudup for his turn as Corey Ellison in the same series, and Steve Carell as Mitch Kessler.)

Over the weekend, the SAG Awards announced the winner of the “Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor”, revealing that Aniston had won. This is a major win for Aniston (if she likes that sort of thing), and it’s the first SAG Award she’s pulled in for her own performance. She won a SAG Award back in 1996, though, but that was part of an ensemble cast for her turn as Rachel Green in the comedy series Friends.

Aniston was also nominated for a Golden Globe. However, she did not win that one.

This is yet another major win for an Apple original series, showcasing that while the start of the first season of The Morning Show might’ve been a little rough, the series wrapped up nicely and showcased powerful performances all around. For instance, Billy Crudup also won an award from the Critics’ Choice Awards back in January.

The second season of The Morning Show is on the way, but we’ll have to wait a bit before it makes its premiere on the streaming service.
