Yesterday, we saw the first leaked screenshots reportedly showing off dark mode, and a few tweaks to existing apps, for the upcoming release of iOS 13. Now, we get our first looks at the new apps for Music and TV, both of which are reportedly standalone apps, rumored to launch with macOS 10.15.
9to5Mac has the report this Wednesday. The report shows off a pair of screenshots for the upcoming standalone Music and TV apps. Both of which are said to be coming along with macOS 10.15 later this year. They have a very familiar design scheme, with both offering a large left navigational panel with options. The TV app has a few more options at the top of the app, which will help future users quickly navigate categories like TV shows for kids, movies, and more.
Color is making a comeback with the apps, too. The colorful sidebar icons should help the apps stand out, but also offer something nicer to look at than the simple monochrome icons.
The standalone Music app will still allow folks to sync content with an iPhone (or, say, a new iPod touch) when the device is physically connected to their computer. Those connected devices will show up on the sidebar as well, along with the categories in Apple Music, library, and more.
Meanwhile, the standalone TV app will focus on separating the online content found within iTunes and the user’s personal library of content. The tool bar at the top includes the options, “Watch Now”, “Movies”, “TV Shows”, “Kids”, and “Library”. The sidebar will offer things like “Recently Watched”, “Downloaded”, and more. It will be a quick and easy way to choose specific genres as well.
As it stands right now, we should hear a lot more about macOS 10.15 (which could be called Mammoth) on Monday, June 3, when this year’s Worldwide Developers Conference kicks off.
