Apple releases tvOS 12.2.1 for Apple TV with bug fixes and performance improvements

Apple on Wednesday released the tvOS 12.2.1 software update for the fourth-generation Apple TV HD and the fifth-generation Apple TV 4K set-top boxes.

The latest update comes following the public release of tvOS 12.2 last month. To install it, go to Settings → System → Software Updates and select the option labeled Check for Update.

If an update is available, choose Download and Install.

The company’s support document listing all the changes in the tvOS 12 updates says that the tvOS 12.2.1 software “includes general performance and stability improvements.”

The Cupertino technology giant is currently testing the upcoming tvOS 12.3 update that includes an overhauled TV app with a new built-in Channels subscription feature.

The overhauled TV app is coming via tvOS 12.3 and iOS 12.3

This will let customers subscribe to channels such as Showtime or Stars directly in the TV app, then watch those shows without having to use the networks’ official apps for tvOS at all.

The Channels feature will also launch in the TV app for iPhone and iPad with iOS 12.3.
