Goalee, Say Yay, Sifthub and other apps to check out this weekend

This week’s edition of our Apps of the Week roundup features an app that wants to help you achieve your goals, a political informer, and Tinder for TV shows. And as always, we’ve selected two great new games for you to check out.

Goalee

Goalee isn’t a tasks app or a habit-tracker. It’s essentially the digital equivalent to writing your goals down somewhere where you can see them every day. The app allows you to quickly and easily create and edit your goals, and then you can set reminders to pop up on your Lock screen. The thinking is if you can constantly see where you want to end up, you might be more motivated to stay on track. If nothing else, it’s an interesting concept.

Say Yay

Here is an app that helps you stay informed on political issues—without bias. Say Yay would have been a great tool before the elections, but it’s also good for following up on candidates and ballot measures you are interested in. I think that’s the key here. You pick the stuff you want to follow and learn more about, it’s not the app feeding you news stories that may contain bias commentary. Check it out if you have any interest in brushing up on your politics.

Sifthub

Here is an app that hopes to help you ‘sift’ through the growing pile of new content. Sifthub is basically Tinder for new TV shows. Short teaser trailers for new TV shows are display to you in a stack of digital cards, and if something looks good you swipe right, and if it doesn’t, swipe left. You never see the same show twice, and once you dismiss a show, it’s gone forever. The app also has a lot of features for tracking and sharing your favorite shows.

Bounce Back

In the mood for something a little more arcade-like or twitchy? Check out Bounce Back. It’s a simple, yet addictive game that forces you to bounce backwards in order to move the ball forward.
