If you appreciated the first Apace jailbreak tweak by iOS developer Andreas Henriksson, then you’ll likely have a sweet spot for its iOS 11-compatible successor: Apace 2 (iOS 11).
Apace 2 augments your iOS handset’s Now Playing interface with features relevant to the app you use to listen to your favorite tunes. Whether you’re partial to Spotify, Deezer, or the native Music app, you could potentially benefit from what Apace 2 brings to the table.
After installation, you can tap and hold on the Now Playing interface to reveal a variety of useful buttons; you can drag your finger to the desired button and release your finger to toggle it. These buttons include the following functions:
- Add the Now Playing track to a playlist (directly from the Lock screen or Control Center)
- Add the Now Playing track to a collection (directly from the Lock screen or Control Center)
- Toggle offline listening mode
- Toggle shuffle listening mode
- Toggle repeat listening mode
- Toggle incognito listening mode
The option to add Now Playing music to playlists is one of my favorite parts of the tweak. It comes in handy when you use radio stations for music discovery, as it lets you quickly add catchy new music discoveries to your local library.
Another one of my favorite features, considering that I’m partial to Spotify, is that you can add Spotify Connect devices to the list of available AirPlay-enabled playback devices and then configure their icons to mesh seamlessly with the rest.
Apace 2 adds a preference pane to the Settings app where you can configure the tweak to your liking:

Spotify
Here, you can:
- Skip duplicate songs
- Choose the default playlist where songs are added from the Now Playing interface
- Delete cached playlists
- Hide or show Spotify Connect devices in your available devices window
- Customize the icons of your Spotify Connect devices
Deezer
Here, you can:
- Choose a default playlist where songs are added from the Now Playing interface
Apple Music
Here, you can:
- Skip duplicate songs
- Choose the default playlist where songs are added from the Now Playing interface
After you configure how you want specific apps to work with the Apace 2 interface, you can move on to some aesthetics and behaviors:
Background
Here, you can:
- Configure the style of the Apace 2 background on the Lock screen
- Configure the style of the Apace 2 background in Control Center
Playlist Artwork
Here, you can:
- Automatically fetch album artwork images when they aren’t available
- Limit fetching to Wi-Fi networks to conserve cellular data
And lastly, you can customize the appearance and functionality of those handy Apace 2 button shortcuts:
Control Actions & Toasts
Here, you can:
- Customize the radius of the Now Playing control buttons
- Configure custom colors for the Now Playing control buttons
- Rearrange the buttons’ orders and individually colorize them
- Configure different gestures for interacting with the buttons
If you listen to a lot of music on your device, whether through Spotify, Deezer, or Apple Music, then Apace 2 should be the next tweak on your wish list. It provides a host of powerful features and customization options that we rarely see in jailbreak tweaks these days, and it includes top-tier support from a respected developer at that.
Whether you used the original Apace or you’ve never used any version of the tweak before, Apace 2 is worth looking at. It’s available from Cydia’s Packix repository for $3.00 and works with all jailbroken iOS 11 devices; those on iOS 10 and earlier are advised to try the original Apace instead.
