The only time a backup of your Apple Watch is created is when you unpair it from your iPhone. That backup is then saved to your iPhone, and will itself be backed up on iCloud or iTunes, depending on your setup.
But where are Apple Watch backups located? In this post, we will show you how to see your available Apple Watch backups and find out at what point in time they were created.
How to see your Apple Watch backups
1) First things first, and maybe this goes without saying, but if you want to see your Apple Watch backups, you must have made backups before. If you haven’t, we suggest you check out our tutorial on how to back up your Apple Watch.
2) Open the Settings app on your iPhone paired with your Apple Watch.
3) Go to General > iPhone Storage, and wait for the device to load all the data, which might take a few seconds.
4) Scroll down and look for the Watch section. Tap on it to select it. You will then see all the backups of your Apple Watch, with details about the date they were made and their size. From here, you are also able to delete any of the backups.
As you can see, Apple Watch backups are pretty light. That’s because they mostly contain settings data. For more details about what data that is backed up, read our post about what is and isn’t included in your Apple Watch backup.
