Buno, Folioscope, Instaread, and other apps to check out this weekend

Apps to check out this weekend

It’s the weekend again, and you know what that means: it’s time for another edition of our Apps of the Week post. For those who aren’t familiar with the column, this is where we put together a small list of apps and games that we think are worth checking out, and we think we’ve really made some awesome selections this week.

Buno

I know what you’re thinking: great, another note-taking app. But I think Buno offers a unique enough experience that it’s worth mentioning. It’s short for Bucket Notes, and it offers a quick and easy way to take notes. Features include a beautiful, minimal design, swipe gestures, folder-like “Buckets” for organizing your thoughts, password protection, seamless syncing between platforms, and much more. Buno is available for free.

Folioscope

Are you an aspiring animator? Or just looking for something fun to play around with this weekend? Check out Folioscope. The app offers simple yet powerful tools to help you create terrific animations in no time. The interface is very intuitive and easy to pick up—imagine a digital flip book  of sorts. Supports Apple Pencil and 3D Touch and there are no IAPs. This app is available for free.

Instaread

Have a bunch of books you want to read, but can’t find the time? Meet Instaread. This app gives you the summaries and key takeaways of bestsellers in 15 minutes or less. How it works: a team of experts read and summarize books for you, and you can choose to consume the breakdown in text or audio format. New summaries are added every day. Instaread is available for free, but there is a $2.99/month subscription fee. First month is free.

Super Stickman Golf 3

ssg3

The award-winning Super Stickman Golf series is back and better than ever. Essentially you get the same great non-conventional golf gameplay with a bunch of new features and improvements. These include 20 new courses, turn based and real-time multiplayer modes, new power ups, daily challenges and more. As with previous SSG titles, this one has several IAPs, but the free gameplay is still worth trying. This game is available for free.

HIT – Heroes of Incredible Tales

HIT

If you’re looking for something a little deeper this weekend than a stickman hitting golf balls, check out Heroes of Incredible Tales. This hack-and-slash RPG features incredible graphics driven by Unreal Engine 4, simple controls with massive combos, infinite customization options and more. Raid in real-time and enter the arena to challenge other heroes, or go on quests to explore the realm. This is another free-to-play title, and you need a network connection to play, but it’s definitely work checking out. HIT is available for free.
