Arguably the best Photoshop alternative available on OS X, the popular image-editing application Pixelmator has gone half price in the Mac App Store.
Available discounted for a limited time in exchange for just fifteen bucks, down from its normal asking price of thirty bucks a pop, this is Pixelmator’s lowest price yet this year.
As someone who loathes Adobe software, I’ve tried time and again countless Photoshop alternatives for the Mac but none stuck with me like Pixelmator did.
Having been using it as my daily driver since its Mac App Store debut back in January 2011, I couldn’t be happier with it and will never look back.
Some of the key highlights of Pixelmator for Mac include a pixel-accurate collection of selection tools, top-notch painting tools, several retouching tools, a bunch of real-time effects, pro-grade color correction features, drawing and vector tools, support for PSD, TIFF, JPEG, PNG, PDF and many other popular formats, including the ability to open and save Photoshop images with layers and images with 16 bits per channel.
Moreover, developers offer excellent support through their website, with dozens of tutorial videos and articles showcasing each feature and aspect of the software.
As if that weren’t enough, the excellent Pixelmator for iPad, shown above, takes image editing on the tablet to the next level with powerful editing features, full Handoff and iCloud support, the ability to read Photoshop files and use layers and much more.
