Instagram’s iPhone 6 refresh is out

One of the most popular mobile applications and the de facto leading platform for mobile photography, Facebook-owned Instagram, has at last been optimized with native display support for Apple’s latest iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus smartphones.Instagram 6.1.3 is now available in the App Store and lists no other changes in iTunes release notes accompanying the 15.9-megabyte download.

Instagram is free and iPhone and iPod touch-only. Fortunately, there are a number of iPad Instagram clients from third-parties available. One of the best I’ve tried thus far has got to be Grids by ThinkTime Creations, pictured below.

As noted in my quick hands-on, this nifty little Mac app puts a gorgeously simplistic grid of Instagram photos and videos at your fingertip, right on your Mac desktop.

It sports native full-screen mode support, fluid user interface and the full range of interactions that Instagram’s made available to third-party clients.

Uploading functionality is non existent, however, but blame it on Instagram’s current policy. There have been no signs that Instagram is mulling exposing uploading functionality to third-parties anytime soon.
