Skype for iOS updated with new interface and bug fixes

Skype is one of the best tools to communicate with friends, family, and colleagues. It allows you to easily send messages and call people for free. Skype's iOS app also makes it even easier to communicate on the go.

Today, the Skype crew has released a welcomed update for their iOS app, that includes a new interface and a slew of bug fixes, in version 3.7:

‘WeeRoll’ makes its way to the Cydia store

WeeRoll, the Notification Center animation tweak that we covered last week, has been released on the Cydia Store.

WeeRoll adds over a dozen Animations to Notification Center, it's like a juiced up version of a similar tweak called Flowtation, and gleans inspiration from Barrel.

It can now be downloaded for $0.99 on the ModMyi repo, and works with jailbroken iOS 5 devices. Let us know if you decide to give it a spin.

Qualcomm unveils new chip that works with both 3G and 4G networks

Opponents of the rumored LTE-flavored iPad have argued that Apple will avoid the 4G technology again this year since it's still not widely available. Why would the company complicate its manufacturing process with multiple 3G/4G models?

But what they don't understand is that chips already exist that work with both LTE and 3G networks. Case in point, Qualcomm unveiled a new all-in-one chip today that could very well be what Apple is using in the upcoming iPad...

Microsoft Office might not come to the iPad anytime soon after all, but maybe it is

Remember this article we published earlier today saying Microsoft Office might be submitted to the App Store for approval soon? Well, scratch that because as it turns out, the Redmond company might not even be working on it after all.

According to the New York Times, a spokeswoman for Microsoft commented on the matter saying "The Daily story is based on inaccurate rumors and speculation. We have no further comment."

‘iTunes in the Cloud’ goes live in Japan, iTunes Match to follow

It's been more than a month since Apple's last iTunes Match roll out, but it looks like the company is getting ready to launch the popular music-mirroring service in Japan.

Macotakara is reporting that Apple has flipped the switch on its 'iTunes in the Cloud' component for Japanese users, allowing them to view and re-download previously purchased music...

Rumor: iPad 3 to launch in Germany on March 23rd

German blog iFun.de reports that "a source to be really taken seriously" informed them the iPad 3 will launch in Germany on March 23, which falls on a Friday, a day Apple has favored for a while when releasing new products.

Of course, like MacRumors notes, this source hasn't proved to be really reliable in the past, but we just posted this for the sake of discussion and keeping you informed about the rumors going around...

How to add rich text capability to your Notes app now

With the rumors and leaks lending strong indications that we'll see some sort of rich text functionality for Notes in iOS 5.1, developer Ryan Petrich decided he doesn't like waiting.

As a result, Rich Text For Mail — a tweak dedicated to adding rich text support to Email — has been updated to support Notes as well.

The good news is that you no longer have to wait for iOS 5.1 to receive a feature that may or may not be included with the final build...

Rumor: iPad 3 front digitizer shows very few changes to its predecessor

Just yesterday we showed you some rumored images of the purported iPad 3 casing compared to the current iPad 2. Well, another day and we have another supposed leaked part.

This time around it's the front and glass digitizer assembly which, according to MacRumors, come by way of Sina Weibo, the Chinese micro-blogging site. It appears to show that there are very few noticeable differences from the iPad 2 set-up...

The Simpsons to land on iOS soon

Electronic Arts has recently confirmed that it will soon launch an official Simpsons game for iOS, with the iPhone, iPad and iPod touch all getting a piece the action.

The Simpsons: Tapped Out will be a free title and include all the main voices from the legendary cast. While no official release date has been set in stone, EA did tell CNET that the game would be out “within the next few weeks”...

Microsoft Office suite for iPad to be submitted for App Store approval soon

With the success the iPhone and iPad have had in the mobile computing space, you'd imagine Microsoft would have done a better job at making their flagship Office suite available for iOS. But they haven't. Not until now anyway.

Back in November, the Daily reported that Microsoft was actively working on developing an iPad version of Office. Today, The Daily has once again scooped everyone when they got their hands on a working prototype version of the software...
