Customize your iDevice’s Slide to Unlock bar with SlideToMod

There's certainly no shortage of jailbreak tweaks that allow you to customize your device's slide to unlock bar. There's Springtomize 2 and SliderEnhancer to name a few.

As you've probably already guessed, we have another one to add to the pile today. Like the aforementioned utilities, SlideToMod is a new tweak for iOS 5 that allows you to customize the text in your device's slide to unlock bar...

i4Siri: a promising 3rd party Siri server

Ever since the possibility of a Siri Proxy server was first unveiled, it's been all the rage. The promise of being able to run Siri on older devices? Count me and about a million other people in.

Now you can hardly look around without seeing some blurb about a 3rd party Siri server, and although security (or lack thereof) is still a big concern, it's apparently not concerning enough to keep the masses of pre-iPhone 4S owners away.

Andrew Sheridan, one of the primary folks behind the i4Siri project reached out to me about a month ago asking me to try his Siri server. Here are some of the results of that trial...

Apple stock reaching new heights, now worth more than Google and Microsoft combined

It sure is a good time to be an Apple investor. After reaching new records a couple weeks ago, the stock hasn't stopped going up ever since. AAPL is currently trading at about $495, which is an absolute record.

As 9to5Mac notes, at its current $460 billion market capitalization, Apple is worth more than 10% of all NASDAQ combined. More impressive maybe is that Apple is worth 52 times RIM's value, more than 5 times Amazon's, more than twice the value of Google, and almost double the size of Microsoft. Heck, Apple is worth more than Google and Microsoft combined!

Apple set to announce iPad 3 first week in March

We're undoubtedly nearing the announcement of whatever Apple has up its sleeve for the next generation iPad, and now new claims suggest we're just a few short weeks away from the big day.

John Paczkowski of AllThingsD now believes that Apple will hold a press event first week in March, with the iPad 3/iPad 2S/iPad Super Epic Edition being made available for purchase soon after. If the iPad 2 release is any kind of indicator, we wouldn't expect to have to wait any longer than two weeks from the announcement before queuing up to buy one.

As is always the case, Apple refused to comment on the speculation, though it is an open secret that the next generation iPad is very much on the horizon...

TweetLine: use Siri to pull up tweets from your Twitter timeline

When iOS 5 launched last Fall, we figured that the Notification Center would become the new hot bed for jailbreak tweaks. But it seems like Siri has also become a popular choice among developers.

The latest package to surface in Cydia that adds functionality to the digital assistant is TweetLine. The tweak allows you to use Siri to call up the 5 most recent tweets from your Twitter timeline...

More evidence that iPad 3 production is in full swing

It seems like it's been raining iPad 3 rumors over the past couple of days. Yesterday we heard that the upcoming tablet may not include the quad-core processor we've been anticipating. And we also saw a purported image of the slate's backing.

Then last night, both 9to5Mac and Apple.pro posted photos of what they claim to be next-generation iPad components. The pictures show both the front and the back of the tablet's shell, as well as what appears to be Smart Cover magnets...

Foxconn corporate servers hacked, classified information compromised

Foxconn, Apple's largest manufacturing partner, has been back in the media spotlight over the last few weeks. Last month, the New York Times pointed to the company in its report on the poor working conditions in Chinese factories.

Foxconn has since been the target of activists and protestors, but now it's found itself in the sights of a different breed. It seems that the world's largest component manufacturer has been hacked by a new group called Swagg Security...

iTunes accounts being hacked to steal money from store credit

The amount of customers reporting that their iTunes account have been hacked is growing steadily on Apple's Support Forum. Customers are reporting that their accounts are being hacked, and the hackers are then using the accounts to purchase gift cards, make purchases on the store, and even using their PayPal accounts.

The Globe and Mail reports customers that have been hacked are growing increasingly frustrated with Apple's response to the issue...

iOS 5.0.1 bug lets anyone make FaceTime calls on your iPhone, even with security settings

Canadian tech blogger Ade Barkah has discovered a new security loophole in Apple's most recent iOS update, iOS 5.0.1. It involves FaceTime, and lets anyone make a call out, even with the highest security settings in place.

The loophole has been confirmed to work on both the iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S, and hopefully is addressed by Apple soon. Barkah details the bug on his blog...

Protestors to stage rally in front of Grand Central Apple Store tomorrow

It's been nearly three weeks since the New York Times published its now infamous report on the poor working conditions of overseas manufacturers, and Apple is still feeling the ripple effects. The iPhone-makers were named exclusively in the lengthy article regarding their poor efforts to correct the growing labor problems in China.

In response to the allegations, activists setup an online petition calling for Apple to release a "worker protection strategy." And not only has the petition collected more than 250,000 electronic signatures, but the activists are about to take their protest to the next level...

iPad 3 rumored A6 processor to be Dual-Core, not Quad-Core as hoped?

Today, more details about the upcoming iPad 3 emerged, when Fix iPhones showed us the supposed back of the iPad 3. In the report, it was noted that the iPad 3 was to have an updated camera, larger battery, and new screen.

To add to the rumors earlier, The Verge has come out with a new report, saying that the iPad 3's rumored A6 processor will be dual-core, and not quad-core as people have hoped...
