Very Em-bear-rassing: Toy Bear Hooks Up to Your iPhone and Reads Your Most Intimate Tweets Out Loud

Only in Japan folks, only in Japan. Tokyo-based toy maker WiZ Co. has created an electronic toy bear that can hook up to your iPhone and read your tweets out loud, lip movement and all.

Owners of the device can download a special app for their iPhone, plug in a cable, and watch the hilarity ensue as the bear repeats your tweets aloud.

I don't know about you, but this just sounds like a recipe for disaster, video inside...

“Theme It” Store Released in Cydia, Direct Competition for Cydia’s Own Theme Center

Finding good themes for a jailbroken iPhone has never been that easy. Themes are usually posted by designers on forums and portfolio websites, and it can be difficult for the average jailbreaker to discover all of the great themes that are out there.

Cydia recently added the "Theme Center," which aims to help users find the plethora of Winterboard themes for jailbroken iDevices. The Theme Center is a great addition to Cydia, but there is plenty of room for improvement.

"Theme It" is a new jailbreak app that aims to be the "Theme Store you've been waiting for." It does look very promising...

If you're already a loyal Verizon customer and are interested in the iPhone 4, the good news is that Big Red has a special allotment set aside for users wishing to upgrade. For those of you interested in switching to Verizon for the iPhone, things get a tad more hairy.

Just look at the situation. The only concrete plans that Verizon has released thus far, is the fact that they are taking pre-orders for existing customers. Outside of that, information has been slow to come out about how Verizon plans to handle the demand on what is sure to be a limited supply of inventory.

Recent commentary from Verizon chief operating officer Lowell McAdam suggests that even he isn't exactly sure how the official launch will pan out on February 10th. So if you're a new customer wishing to snag an iPhone at launch, you probably have your work cut out for you...

Verizon iPhone Will Have $30 Unlimited Data Plan for a “Limited Time”

It's official. The Verizon iPhone will be initially offered with a $30 unlimited data plan. Potential Verizon iPhone customers can celebrate that they will be getting the coveted unlimited data plan that AT&T stopped providing for the iPhone last June.

Verizon's COO, Lowell McAdam, has confirmed that there will indeed be a $30 unlimited data plan for Verizon iPhone customers when product sales start in February. This move is clearly Verizon's attempt at attracting disgruntled AT&T iPhone customers to the Verizon Wireless platform.

It looks like Verizon is pulling out the stops to attract as many AT&T customers as they can...

Elderly Woman Gets Caught Trying to Smuggle Over 40 iPhones Through the Airport

Israel's Ben-Gurion International Airport was the scene of a recent iPhone smuggling bust featuring an unlikely participant; A 60+ year old woman.

How in the world she was able to walk around with over 40 iPhone 4's is anyone's guess, but she did. Security began to take note of her struggles to walk (you don't say..?) and eventually she was asked to step inside a full body scanner.

I think you can probably figure out how the rest of this story went...

Jailbreak Basics: Why SBSettings is an Absolute Must Have Jailbreak App

Over the years, numerous people have asked me about my favorite jailbreak app. Depending on my mood, I might give one answer one week, and a totally different answer the next.

One thing that stays consistent though, is my recommendation of SBSettings. This integral app is one of the reasons why it hurts so much to use a non-jailbroken phone.

Just what is it that makes SBSettings receive unanimous high praise across the board? Check inside for the answer via video...

iPhone Dev Team Successfully Ports Untethered Jailbreak Back to 4.1 SHSH Blobs

Late last month, the iPhone Dev Team officially released their jailbreak “backup plan”, which was released because Comex was not able to meet his Christmas ETA. The new jailbreak method, called “Jailbreak Monte” used your saved iOS 4.2b3 SHSH blobs to give your iDevice the first untethered jailbreak on iOS 4.2.1.

The method required you to have an Apple developer account to get a hold of the 4.2 beta 3 IPSW (although the firmware could be pirated, the iPhone Dev Team is strictly against piracy).

Sunday, via Twitter @MuscleNerd of the iPhone Dev Team announced that the untethered jailbreak Monte has been successfully ported back to the 4.1 kernel (SHSH blobs) for iOS 4.2.1.This means that you will now be able to use your saved iOS 4.1 SHSH blobs to get an untethered jailbreak on iOS 4.2.1...

iOS 4.3 Must Be Close as App Updates Featuring AirPlay Support Begin Appearing

Matt Gallagher -- the creator of StreamToMe -- is always on top of his game when it comes to app updates. Thus, the reason for StreamToMe's iOS 4.3-compatible App Store update could all be owed to his proactive nature.

Or it could be that iOS 4.3 is really just that close to an official deployment and release.

Why is this good news? Not only will it allow 3rd party apps to utilize AirPlay, which is awesome, it also provides promise for those waiting for an iPhone 4 unlock...

The App Store Gets An Official Twitter Account

Who says Apple doesn't like Twitter? The hilarious @CEOSteveJobs Twitter account was recently approached by Twitter (on Apple's behalf ) and asked to make clear that the account was parody and not reflective of Apple Inc. While Apple had a bad impression of Twitter in that case, the company still understands the value in the "tweet."

Apple has a few official Twitter accounts in existence. The @AppStore is the newest addition. The App Store welcomed itself into the Twittersphere with the tweet, "Welcome to App Store on Twitter! Follow us to discover new apps, get exclusive offers, and share with friends. #appstore"

Apple will use @AppStore for featured apps, promotions, and hopefully some interesting App Store facts and statistics...
