Yap Transcribes Your iPhone Voicemails

Yap is a new application available in the App Store that will turn your iPhone voicemails into a readable text. If you think listening to voicemails is a waste of time (I do), then Yap will be the perfect companion for you.

Google Voice already offers the option of receiving transcribed voicemails but not everybody has a Google Voice account. Yap is available in the App Store for free. Give it a try.

Yup, You Can Install Apps on the Apple TV

iOS developer Steve Thoughton-Smith confirmed earlier today on Twitter that it is indeed possible to install applications on the new Apple TV. Great news, right?

Well don't rejoice just yet. While you can install apps on the Apple TV, you actually can't launch those applications. So in short, the apps are on your Apple TV but they are useless since there is nothing to make them work.

Since the Apple TV has already been jailbroken, my guess is that the jailbreak community will come up with a way to actually run applications on the Apple TV. And of course, Apple will most likely natively run apps by next year's next big software update.

Apple Approves a BitTorrent Application

Apple has approved a BitTorrent‐based app for the App Store despite rejecting other BitTorrent apps in the past, citing piracy concerns.

The app was developed by Derek Kepner and is called IS Drive. Available now at the App Store for $4.99, it basically utilizes ImageShack Drive, which is a paid, torrent‐based service for downloading files. Users search for torrents on the app and can also download torrents from ISOHunt and Mininova...

This iPhone App Makes Your Applications Icons Glow [No Jailbreak Required]

Glowing App iCons is a new application available in the App Store that will let you make your iPhone apps icons glow on your springboard. This free application doesn't require a jailbreak because it's not actually tweaking the app icons, it's simply adding glowing frames on your wallpaper.

Bumpers Being Sold at Apple Stores Again

I know when Apple announced that they would be handing out free bumpers to anyone who bought an iPhone 4 that the masses would be up in arms over the possibility of Apple deciding to discontinue the case. It wouldn't shock this bruised up author a bit if it came out someday that the cases were made strictly as a bandaid to be given out for the antenna issue.

9 to 5 Mac is reporting that the beloved protective measure is currently being sold at Apple stores. Apple just recently stopped their free case giveaway on September 30th as planned and now plans to turn a profit off of all those pesky freebies...

How to Get Your iPhone Back on AT&T’s Unlimited Data Plan

When AT&T changed its data plans a few months ago, it put an end the unlimited data plans for new iPhone customers. Existing customers were however offered the possibility to stay on those unlimited plan. Others decided to go to a cheaper capped data plan. The trick is once you give up your unlimited plan, you cannot go back to it.

That's exactly what my friend Mathew did. He wanted to save a few bucks and downgraded to the $25 2GB plan but he quickly regretted his move. I was talking with Mathew the other day while preparing the TwiiPhone podcast when he told me he had found a way to get his iPhone back to the unlimited data plan.

I was very interested in hearing his story and how he managed to go back to the grandfathered unlimited data plan so he offered to email me all the details of the story. Here it is for you...
