Instagram 6.1.3 for iOS (iPHone screenshot 001)

One of the most popular mobile applications and the de facto leading platform for mobile photography, Facebook-owned Instagram, has at last been optimized with native display support for Apple’s latest iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus smartphones.Instagram 6.1.3 is now available in the App Store and lists no other changes in iTunes release notes accompanying the 15.9-megabyte download.

Instagram is free and iPhone and iPod touch-only. Fortunately, there are a number of iPad Instagram clients from third-parties available. One of the best I’ve tried thus far has got to be Grids by ThinkTime Creations, pictured below.

As noted in my quick hands-on, this nifty little Mac app puts a gorgeously simplistic grid of Instagram photos and videos at your fingertip, right on your Mac desktop.

It sports native full-screen mode support, fluid user interface and the full range of interactions that Instagram’s made available to third-party clients.

Uploading functionality is non existent, however, but blame it on Instagram’s current policy. There have been no signs that Instagram is mulling exposing uploading functionality to third-parties anytime soon.

    Desperate for the icon refresh.

    • onesimpleclik

It’s more than an icon though. It’s their logo; their identity.

It’s only thing that sets them apart completely from from every other app on both the App Store & Play Store; for which a lot also attempt to use an icon that looks very similar to the official Instagram app. It’d be great to see an updated logo/icon, but I highly doubt it is going to happen any time soon.

Rdio also updated their app for the 6 today…Spotify and Snapchat hurry up!

    • Phil Randle

Rdio is REALLY solid, Looks great on the iPhone 6 now, 320Kb/s streaming, interactive notifications are great, share a song with someone and they can just pull down the notification and add the song to their Rdio account, great implementation.

I love the new iOS 7 icon, said no Instagram user ever.

About time! Looks good. Don’t get me started on the app icon though….

so sorta off but topic but on the subject of instagram… did they decide to not release Bolt in the US or did they just kill idea all together?

    • I think it may be dead. It’s not available in the UK and I’ve not heard anything about it since it was released.

  • I’m actually quite shocked that they still haven’t made an iPad app yet. Although, how long did it take Facebook to relase a Facebook app for the iPad? Like 2 years?

  • Speaking of pictures, you guys have any plans to write about this disappoint (http://bit ly/1vBokKk) that invalidates claims of the i6 having the “best” camera on the market based on benchmarks (http://bit ly/1vBoK3c). Or is it a “non issue”?

    • Kurt

Note 4=Best camera, best screen….should I go on?

      • igorsky

Well you can go on to all those people who have switched from the Note to the 6 Plus, but seems like it would be a waste of time for you.

      • Kurt

Why, I think the iPhone is a good phone. Okay, it’s not the best but up there for sure.

  • latinlegacy

um i have no sound from any vids on IG

    • Josh

i dont either, have to put my phone on silent and back off silent to hear EACH video……BS
