Apple introduces Family Sharing in iOS 8

Apple has faced a lot of criticism over the years with regards to parental controls on the App Store, especially because of headlines of children racking up thousands of dollars on in-app purchases.

Aiming to eliminate that problem for good, the company has introduced a new feature in iOS 8 called Family Sharing. Apple already has a similar feature in Home Sharing, but Family Sharing takes this feature to a whole new level… 

Apple unveils new ‘Health’ app for iOS 8

As several reports predicted, Apple is getting into the Healthcare industry with iOS 8 by introducing a new app called 'Health.' Health provides an easy-to-access hub where iPhone owners can store and monitor important fitness and health-related metrics.

As explained by Craig Federighi, this is a huge improvement over the current situation, where this kind of information is spread across multiple apps and services. And of course, Apple also introduced HealthKit for developers, which means 3rd-party integration...

iOS 8 improves messaging on iMessage

Apple has made some welcomed improvements in iOS 8 to the Messages app for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch. There are several new features that affect group conversations, sharing your location in a message, an attachment overview, sending multiple photos and videos at once and more. Apple introduces new QuickType input method in iOS 8

Apple has just announced that the iOS software keyboard is getting a boost in iOS 8 with an all new QuickType keyboard which enables predictive suggestions inside iOS Messages and other apps, in a manner resembling the downloadable Google keyboard and other third-party keyboards available for Android.

QuickType is system wide, it learns how you type to different people and supports Continuity for seamless transition between devices...

OS X Yosemite developer preview will be available today

Folks excited to checkout all of the new features in OS X Yosemite will be happy to hear that a developer preview will be available today, for free [obviously]. It sounds like it's going to be available for all registered developers at first, and eventually hit Apple's recently launched public beta program. Apple unveils Continuity mode for seamless transitioning between iOS devices and Macs

Apple spent some air time during its keynote to talk about a new feature called Continuity. For starters, AirDrop now finally works between iOS and OS X. But it's much more than that. Continuity detects devices in your proximity and makes them aware of each other.

For example, your iPad can notify you in the screen corner of your Mac and vice versa. Next, you could be compising an email on your iPhone. And when you come near your Mac, it’ll recognize your iPhone and prompt you to finish your message on the Mac.

Safari gains new features in OS X Yosemite

Apple introduces ‘MailDrop’ for sending large files via email

Continuing on with its rundown of OS X 10.10 Yosemite, Apple's Craig Federighi just introduced MailDrop. The new feature addresses a "fundamental problem with email" by allowing users to send large files over email, via iCloud.

As it sits now, users get the error 'Cannot send message using the server Mail' when they go to send larger hi-resolution images or HD video via the Mail app in OS X. But MailDrop fixes this by allowing you to send files via iCloud...

Apple unveils OS X 10.10 Yosemite

Apple during the keynote here at San Francisco's Moscone West just announced the next major version of its desktop operating system powering Macs. As rumored, Mac OS X 10.10 is codenamed "Yosemite" and focuses on clarity, translucency and precise typography resembling iOS 7.
