Wallpapers of the Week

As we enter the new year, we are celebrating with more wallpapers. This is the beginning of a seven month climb into the Wallpaper of the Week section. If you are keeping close tabs on the installments, we are trying a new platform. Now, readers are encouraged to send in their excellent wallpapers for consideration in the post. We feel like this will further engage our readership and help everyone feel more connected to the site.

With the new format in mind, there are potentially hundreds of submissions that may come any given week. I make it a point to look through the images, but sometimes it is less timely than others. I appreciate everyones' interest in the section and hope you look forward to it each week...

If you missed the announcement last week, the Wallpapers of the Week format is changed. In a new effort to continuously provide top quality wallpaper images, readers are encouraged to submit any attractive wallpapers instead of simply ones created by an artist only. This switch also allows the images to be seasonally appropriate.

In a seasonally appropriate mindset, with Christmas behind us, the next holiday is celebrating 2014. Each year, a limited amount of new year options are created, primarily due to their short shelf life on users' devices. However, several choices were rounded up and offered herein...

We are celebrating as we quickly approach Christmas, for those who observe the holiday. Additionally, today marks the 26th installment of Wallpapers of the Week, which means we hosted the section for exactly one half year. I enjoyed seeing the wallpapers from different artists each week and choosing which ones to post.

However, this week will mark a change in the wallpaper posts. Over the past six months, wallpaper submissions from readers dwindled. Although the post is frequently a highly trafficked article, readers slowly stopped sending in their work. Currently, I only receive three to four submissions each week. While I frequently reconsidered past wallpapers, the well is drying up. Posting quality images each week is becoming a challenge; therefore, the format must change to remain relevant...

We are back again, with another great offering for the Wallpapers of the Week section. There are always great images from which to choose and this week is no exception. Today, I cannot say the options are seasonally specific, but great wallpapers are great wallpapers.

Make sure to keep submitting your wallpapers for consideration as the section is maintained by the readers. In the United States, we finished celebrating Thanksgiving this weekend. After much feasting and football, I believe it is finally okay to accept winter is creeping upon us. Ceaseless Christmas music will be played and, to coordinate, all of my devices will enjoy frigidly cold winter wallpapers. There is something refreshing about viewing a calming snow scene or frosted nature images.

In that light, let this be the first, of potentially many winterized wallpapers. Anything that looks cold will be considered a winter wallpaper. Another Sunday, another set of reader wallpapers. Each week readers submit different kinds of wallpapers, from completely graphic to photographs to abstract modifications. It is great to see what type of artwork our iDB readers regularly produce.

The posts also spur excellent conversation in the comments section. While all of the feedback is not completely useful, we do keep an eye on the reactions below. Criticism and negative comments are not useful without a suggestion for progress. However, some readers help guide the section with their constructive feedback. Wallpapers have the ability to truly change the look and feel of the iOS 7 operating system. As we discovered during our blurry phase, the entire system changes throughout with the transparencies. However, the multi-layered colors were the only visually stimulating item throughout the OS.

Using boxes, shadows, and textures is another way to enhance UI, but several of those key components were lost with Forstall's iOS 6. The month prior to December is host to many wonderful things in life, most notably, Thanksgiving for Americans, Fall leaves, cold nights, and Starbucks never ending marketing blitz for the Pumpkin Spice Latte. As a man, or woman I suppose, November is also heralded as Movember, a month to grow a mustache to help support awareness for men's health issues.

We are a little wallpaper crazy. Over the past couple weeks we posted standard Wallpapers of the Week, along with iPad event wallpapers and iPad Air wallpaper recreations. Based on the comment feedback, everyone seems to enjoy the wallpaper coverage on the site and we hope to keep everyone flush with fresh walls. Nothing is worse than a stale Lock screen.

A majority of our previous Wallpapers of the Week centered around iPhone and we hope to show some love in the iPad direction, especially as the iPad event goes live this Tuesday, October 22, at 10:00AM PST. If you have not taken a look at our recap for the event, there is an excellent summary post, which includes all of the rumors and expectations for the upcoming iPad 5 and iPad mini 2. Barring a last minute leak, which tend to be false anyway, I would wager a guess: there will be no surprises on Tuesday.
