It has been a long time coming, but Vizio has finally launched the Apple TV app on SmartCast TVs.
While Vizio has been rolling out support for AirPlay 2 and HomeKit for a wide range of its TVs for quite some time now, the Apple TV app has been missing from the equation. But the company is changing that this year.
Not to be outdone by Korea's LG, which yesterday rolled out AirPlay 2 and HomeKit support for select 2019 OLED and NanoCell 4K TVs, US consumer electronics maker Vizio today released a software update bringing those functions to its own SmartCast TV sets.
Vizio today launched the new P-Series models, available in two huge sizes, as welll as new mid-range M-series TV sets and the most affordable V-series smart TVs, with AirPlay 2 and HomeKit support to be added soon via software updates.
Apple's list of AirPlay 2-enabled TVs has Vizio's SmartCast models from 2017, 2018 and 2019 gaining support for AirPlay 2 and HomeKit, but now the American TV manufacturer has confirmed that 2016 4K models will be gaining these handy features as well.
Vizio today announced that select models of its Smart TV sets will soon pick up support for Apple's HomeKit platform for the connected home and the AirPlay 2 media-streaming protocol.
